I wonder if the Browns will go after Alex Smith.
Norv Turner has worked with him in the past. |

Can anyone give us any examples in the past 20 years or so where a team had the #1 pick overall, didnt use it on a QB and traded for another teams backup? How did that work out for them??

Of the last 15 first overall picks, 12 of them were quarterbacks.
None of the other 3 were given a second contract by the team that drafted them. Mario Williams (Passed on Cutler) Courtney Brown (Chad Pennington) Jake Long (Matt Ryan)...they haven't re-signed him yet. |

@nfldraftscout OK Matt answer this. Chiefs sign Albert and Bowe before the Draft. Who would you take then?
Matt Miller @nfldraftscout @ChiefsOsFan Star Lotulelei. Matt Miller @nfldraftscout I'll try to simplify this: The only way I'd draft Geno Smith for the #Chiefs is if they can trade back. |

Id also like to mention that the bust rate of defensive linemen drafted in the first round is wayyyyy higher than first round quarterbacks.

This tells me it's much more likely than I thought that the Chiefs are going QB. |

Matt Miller @nfldraftscout
The only people who think the #Chiefs have to draft a QB are Chiefs fans. Consensus among NFL people is that Joeckel will be the pick. |

Matt Miller is a complete buffoon.
Anyone that says you should trade back to take a QB is a complete idiot...look at history FFS...it doesn't matter where you take a QB...if it works out its worth it's weight in gold and if it doesn't, you just swing again. Rodgers, Brees, Flacco, Kaepernick and countless others "weren't worth the first overall pick" How'd that turn out? |
