Sandy Vag 2.0 Thread

This was sent to me earlier tonight.

Discus:

So I've been banned from CP for what appears to be forever. I'd like to offer the following explanation and a plea for reconsideration:

Here's what happened: the absurdity of the whole Peyton Manning situation showed me how fun it is to post in an absurd style that involves a lot of simple repetition, Dadaist nonsense, obviousness, exaggeration, and thread starters/bumps that are a bit offbeat. So for the last few months, I've primarily posted in that style. And while I think a lot of people agreed that this was fun and harmless, mods interpreted it as antagonistic and obnoxious (fair enough on the obnoxious thing, I suppose) and as a behavior issue rather than a stylistic choice.

Anywho, I really don't want to be banned forever and I'm willing to tone down that style if that's what it takes. I had previously seen my bannings as the mods who didn't think my weirdo shit was funny just ****ing with me. Now I see that they genuinely thought I was a problem and genuinely felt I was blowing chances and "making them look stupid" for letting me back in.

So now I'd like to drop the absurdist facade and be serious for a second: I want to keep posting at CP. And I'm willing to do it in a way that totally doesn't piss off the people who are trying to keep the place civil.

If anybody could pass this on to ChiefsPlanet, I would really truly appreciate it. Thanks.

Yes, yes, and yes. It's the only stance I've ever taken.

You're going to be evaluating the justification for bumping threads, according to Phobia. That's weak sauce.

Hey I'll give you and A+ for trying to explain things over and over and over again. I'm not built like that. When I see the same questions being asked and answered numerous times, I have no desire to jump in, because in a few select cases, it's not going to change anything.

It's really simple, actually... If you don't catch our attention by bumping several threads in a short amount of time (one of the "rules" in the FAQ), we'll never notice. And if you bump a thread for a good reason, it's a non-issue. And if you bump one thread every once in a while for the LOLs, we probably still won't notice until it becomes a habit.

Like we've said 84 times in the past 24 hours, you practically have to beg to get yourself banned, which is a non-issue for pretty much everyone on the board.

I've been following this from the start. I know what's been said. I even get the argument for the issue with bumping a lot of threads, even if a ban of any real time seems (to me) to be a stupid way of dealing with it. But this nonsense with evaluating the justification for bumped threads is ridiculous. It doesn't get much stupider than that.

Is that from Phobia's thread? No one is evaluating thread bumps. Like I said, if you don't have a history of bumping several old threads for no reason, don't make one, and you won't have a problem.

Yeah that's about right. This is really really easy, if you don't go out of your way to be a complete hole, it's a nonissue.

Yes, it's from Phobia's thread, and those are his (inexact) words. People who bump threads have to offer justification, so that the justification can be looked at to make sure it's sufficient.

Is this position being walked back from?
