We probably have a better chance of getting an NHL or NBA team that wins a series before either of these teams win a playoff game.

I'd be surprised if the Royals ever did anything here. The way MLB works means that they have to be very shrewd, lucky and good. History says 2 of those ain't happening and I think Steinbrenner has just optioned Luck's contract for another 4 years. Luck's just having a hard time under the scrutiny of the NY media.

Well, I don't see the Royals making the playoffs this year, but possibly next year. I'd say no, but it could be close.

The Chiefs may win a playoff game next year. It wouldn't surprise me. Year 1 Herm learns what he has and begins to change the team. Year 2 he begins to get his own guys.
The Royals probably won't win a playoff series before 2009. I do think they will be competitive. Things are turning around there. Think along the lines of Peterson getting fired, replaced by the best candidate in all of the NFL, and he has an impact immediately. That's what's happening on the other side of the complex. Long term, things are probably brighter for the Royals, as odd as that sounds, with the unequal playing field. The difference is that the Chiefs continue to go with the plan that hasn't worked here since 1993... |

I'd put my money on the Royals to win a playoff game in 2012.
Hosmer has got me believing in the plan. |
