I'm kind of confused here.

If there's nothing wrong with being gay, then what's the deal with the obsession to prove that it's the way some people are born and not their fault? I mean, if there's no underlying feeling of guilt or inadequacy, then from where does the dire need arise to prove that it wasn't your decision and people shouldn't think ill of it?

Just trying to understand the mindset here.

**edit - I agree with MHM, someone edit that thread starter so you don't have to heave the mouse to scroll past it all.

Yeah, right.

You'll see me hate alcohol about the same time you see me in a gay relocation camp...

I'm not sure it's an obsession as much as just rebuttal to the "they are choosing to be deviants" crowd. Maybe with the hope that they would be more willing to accept it if it was nature vs nurture (even though I doubt it really matters).

Not to mention, so people aren't getting sent off to camps to be "set straight"

Because those that would persecute them appear convinced that this is a matter of "choice", and therefore those rotten queers should just stop engaging in such perverted acts and be straight like the rest of us.

If it's not really a matter of choice, then the Moral Majority's argument is seriously undercut.

And I know you're smart enough to know this already.

I so didn't read more than one paragraph of that. Absolutely sick, though.

And people wonder why "freaks" hold it in.

I'm not gay, but I'd imagine the large burden the outside world throws on you for being "different" or some kind of "evil, sinful freak" (and these messages are hammered home from a very early age) would be one that they've similarly experienced.

That's the one I'm having a hard time grasping... You say you idenify as a female... Got it. Makes sense to me. I've even got my own theories on why/how such a thing could happen... But I can't wrap my head around the "not gay" part.

This is the part that makes me think this whole thing is a joke, and the punchline is that you're a lesbian trapped inside of a man's body. That's it right? I win the prize?
