Ford ****ed up a simple defensive assignment, so blame Bob for not changing it up? And to be honest, Ford hasn't been all that terrible in coverage over the years.

You're basically telling us you rush 5 with Houston and Ford and the 3-down and then cover the zones. Backing yourself into a corner as a defense because there are only so many zone looks left to run out of that set and you're spreading things thin. If you run a cover 3 look, then you likely have 2 ILBs and a SS underneath and 2 CBs and a FS over the top. You have mismatch issues underneath with a whole lot of real estate to cover because you rushed 5. If you run a cover 2 look, then you have 2 ILBs covering the middle, your corners on the flats and your safeties two deep. Now you're probably asking your shitty ass safety Eric Murray to cover AB on a corner route? ****. Better hope to hell your rush gets there. I'd much rather rush 4 and mix up my zone looks and risk that maybe Ford gets caught in a bad position then basically always being in a bad position.

Rushing him back, Berry could complicate the problem.

The next two teams dont have HOF QBs... KC needs Berry for the post-season.

I've never heard CP act like Philip Rivers was a world-beater before.

He's top 10 all-time in yards.... I never implied he was a "world-beater". He's better than Jimmy G and Case Keenum.

Nevermind the lower round guys. You simply have to develop 3rd and 4th round picks in this league and the Chiefs really have not defensively.
Thomas is probably past his time. But I don't know what you can really do when you have a DC calling aggressive man coverage in a low pass pressure scheme in a league where refs dont let corners get away with anything. It's asking a lot for a low round CB to survive with these bullshit rules we have.

It's just an illustration that an epidemic of homerism has taken hold.

Never before did you ever hear CP nattering about how great Rivers is. Never has anyone been afraid of him. No one posted about how we can't expect a defense to be able to contain Rivers because of how great he is.

Rivers is now 13-13 against the Chiefs all time, and barely has more TD than INT against us. He has not terrorized the Chiefs throughout his career.

But now that a good portion of the board is in "I want to believe" for 2018 mode, we're making excuses for the defense to give ourselves hope that maybe the team can contend this year. That maybe the sad state of the defensive personnel won't mean Mahomes' great start will all be for naught.

Those are the bare facts. The defense has been in steady decline for several years and there's a dearth of talent now, which can't be hidden any longer.

When your first opponent comes out and throws the ball 50 times, and then the next opponent watches the film and decides to throw it 60 times, it's safe to say the book has been written on your defense.

We don't have 1st team NFL quality talent on defense. It's going to take a couple of strong offseasons in the draft and free agency to begin a rebuild on defense. Thus far we haven't had one.

I certainly haven't been happy with the defensive performance, but Christ, it's not like we got torched by a couple of bums.

If they still suck ass next week at home, or worse, get lit up by that idiot Keenum anywhere, then I'll declare them Robinson's Detards 2.0. But let's not bury them quite yet.

My God! we drafted all defense this year ,brought in Hitchins Fuller and Ragland. Nadi,Dorian,Neimen and watts are all gonna be players. Nelson is playing really good. Berry will be back. We're going to be fine.

do I have to keep pointing out that we're scoring so fast we make teams one dimensional and the two teams we played have HOF qbs

It would transform the defense if Berry comes back and is even close to his old self.

I’ve prepared myself that he will probably never return to his prime form (if he ever plays again) but I don’t think we need that for him to make an impact. Even at 75% of prime Berry, he could be an amazing box safety that can eliminate opposing TEs and put pressure on opposing QBs on blitzes.

Who knows....he and Houston are super close. Maybe getting him back would breathe new life into Justin Houston and this team goes on to win a title.

Eric Berry is a true loving legend.

I really hope he makes it back.
