What’s depressing is that it’s hard to see the defense improving that much next year with another year of age and few draft picks. Scheme is important and Sutton should be fired, but without the personnel there’s only so much you can do.

With the personel they've got it shoudln't be one of the worst defenses in the league though.

Personnel.. as in Eric Berry, Justin Houston, Chris Jones and Marcus Peters?

Those three guys are good enough to make seven other guys a top 5 unit?

They were a defense that couldn't get off the field. They suck on third and long, and our offense just sits while opponents have 12 play drives. Not good enough.

I don't think thats what I typed though so....

Those 4 guys are pretty good cornerstones to build around, and I think Ragland has showed potential to be a 5th guy there. THey need to build around them better.

No, it's Truth !! NFL means "not for long" and our draft picks for the most part on defense have not panned into talented depth whatsoever. However we waited too long for development with most of these defensive picks. We MUST DO a better job drafting guys that can show they can play almost immediately and by at least the 2nd yr be starting. If they are not starting or rotating getting a lot of time being a legit playmaker by the 2nd yr then we move on PERIOD. e.g. Phillip Gaines

I'd prefer to give them a competent DC, they deserve that much. Nothing rankles me more than giving up 6/10 on 3rd down, while rushing 3 and dropping 8.
