If he continues to play well enough to warrant high draft picks he won't be going anywhere.

A 34-year-old QB owed $17 million with one year of control left. You aren't getting a ton for that. There are only so many Rick Spielman-level morons out there.

If he warrants high draft picks all the more reason trade him.

Who would conceivably trade for Smith?
Buffalo, Miami, NYJ, Jax, Denver, Arizona, SF, Minnesota, Cleveland, Cincinnati That assumes that Buffalo will cut bait with Tyrod Taylor Miami would have to give up on Tannehill, which is possible, but unlikely. The Jets are possible trade partners, but that FO is likely getting shitcanned after this year Denver: The odds of a trade within the division are pretty low, but Reid did it once before Jacksonville seems like an ideal candidate, but they're a year away from being a year away. Cleveland is likely to draft a QB high, as they've already ruined any promise Kizer may have had by rushing him, and they have a boatload of picks. Cincinnati can get out of Dalton's contract this offseason, so that's a possibility. Shanahan may have his eyes on Cousins, which opens up Washington as a trade possibility. Minnesota depends on Bridgewater's recovery. It probably comes down to Arizona, SF/Wash, and Jacksonville

If the Jags sneak into the playoffs this year without Bortles suddenly emerging as a real QB, I bet they'd be willing to pay.

If alex can set his new play as a standard until he retires - I would like to see him with Jacksonville. Instant contender with that defense and wr corps

Arians tried to trade for Alex in 2013. Palmer is most likely done. And why wouldn't the Jags want him? They have all the pieces outside of QB now to be a solid playoff team and Coughlin will be 72 next season. I think it's completely fair to receive a 2nd round pick for the guy. New team can extend him.

If alex plays at this level the whole season would you really want to trade that away for someone that is forsure cheaper but a question mark and based on potential?

Yes because being a scared of success chiefs fan era is about over. There’s still plenty of question marks with smith. His playoff record is ass, He folds like a cheap lawn chair in the playoffs. Unless he changes his past playoff history. Nothing changes |
