The Chiefs need DL depth as well but it's easier to work around a flawed 5-tech. Granted, it's tough when you also lack a strong run-support ILB but that just supports the idea that they'd consider ILB ahead of DL. RB is also easy to scheme around so I don't think they'll accelerate the need there either. CB and ILB seem like the most obvious spots where they could use some more players and can't really hide it if things go sideways on them.

CB is a bigger need than many would want to believe, as I have said all along. Why? Well, we all saw the TB game without Peters.

Cunningham would be a great pick imo. I might trade up a bit for him

But look at Ware's 2015 tape as well as his measurable or even his tape at LSU.
Why is he an appreciably worse 'prospect' than the guys still available. He has often shown that phonebooth burst that people like in Cook. And hell, he shows agility that's absolutely unreal for a guy his size. And again, in '15 he showed the ability to be a real hammer as well as good vision. If you just look at his brief playing time at LSU and his '15 tape in KC, you'd say that he has tools easily on par with any of the remaining backs in this class. Now granted, that requires you ignore the last 10 weeks of the season where he just didn't look right, but I think that's a risk you can take. It's a baseball axiom but when a player demonstrates a tool, you operate under the assumption that the tool still exists until age or injury takes it away. Well there were no injuries for Ware and he has very few miles on the odometer. So I think you have to act as though those tools are still there - at least for one more year. And if you do that, there's little reason to believe that Ware can't be a #1 back. He absolutely looked the part in '15 and for the first few weeks of '16. Something just went off the rails mid-year. I'm not smart enough to know what that may have been.

Give Ware a shot with a real QB and I think the dude can be a 1,000+ yard back every season. FFS....how many times did Smith overthrow Ware on gimme passes? |

Dorsey said Spiller looks like his old self, so RB likely won't be high on their priority list. That's 3 guys right there, and I'm sure they like Reaves too.

It would sting to pretty much take all of the depth out of this draft but eliminating your 3rd round, but you could justify it to walk away with two guys that have significant upside at vital positions.

Too many of them right now to just ignore the problem. Peters is a stud but he's quicker than fast and not that big. Kevin King 6'3" and a 4.45 40 would be useful. King has some flaws but I think those flaws would be helped by our scheme. It allows our CB to pin WR against the sideline only giving them a 1-way go.

59. Kansas City Chiefs Alvin Kamara, RB, Tennessee: Spencer Ware is a solid option at running back, but Kamara provides a fastball to the arsenal. |
