Per 810: Chiefs tried to trade back up into 1st round

And they are looking to move up in the 2nd.

They think Dalvin Cook is the target.

If he was trying to trade into the 1st, I think he was after Foster.

Dorsey doesn't just try to play the board, he tries to play other GMs as well (his Jones move last year, Mahomes this year) and I think he's getting better at it.

I don't think he was going to be too nervous that King was going 1st round or even Cook (despite his answers) because if either of them do, there is a lot of depth at CB and he could still take Mixon at RB. There wasn't a noticeable drop off to the next guy.

Foster, OTOH, is a step above Cunningham in terms of upside. Granted, there's risk there, but I think he would've been willing to deal with that risk.

I think it was Foster and with Foster off the board, you'll see him stand pat in this round. There are at least 10 guys that would be outstanding fits for the Chiefs, IMO and I think he'll have a few left standing by the time it gets back to them.

All I ever see on him is 'great slot defender' or 'will start at nickel on day 1'....

Seems that he's already been pegged as a sub-packaged defender and I can't really figure out why. I'd rather have King, personally, but with the depth of this CB class and with teams seemingly not comfortable putting him on an island, it's not surprising at all that he fell.

IMO, they can get an RB and ILBer in the 4th. I also wouldn't rule out acquiring Mychal Kendricks from Philly, who doesn't fit the Wide 9 that Schwartz runs.

He'd be an instant upgrade while solving a need.
If Dorsey traded for Kendricks......then this shit instantly becomes an A+ with Mahomes and Kendricks. Take whoever else you want Dorsey....I don't ****ing care.

I can't see these guys going 3 picks without at least one fatty. I think there will be quite a few good ones available in rd 3 if they can't get Wormley in rd 2.

Could you even freaking imagine if we had come out of that 1st round with both Mahomes AND Rueben Foster?

I would've turned gayer than Richard Simmons for John Dorsey. Still contemplating it just for getting Mahomes.

My favorites are Cunningham, Baker and Wormley but I doubt any of them make it past 12 or so.

I think Wilson or King are the most likely guys to make it back around to us. Maybe Marcus Williams as a worst case.

I think he still has Hodges in his pocket. The Howard move probably gives them enough space to make something work there.

If ILB doesn't come together like he hopes and he's left taking a gamble guy in the 4th (a Beckwith or Anzalone type), then he'll supplement that with a steadier veteran.

I'll say this: as excited as I am the Chiefs drafted a QB in round 1, with the upside of being a top 5 QB, if they draft Joe Mixon, I'm out.

As a Chiefs fan. Period.

I still look at the flashes we occasionally saw from Ware and think that RB isn't as pressing as some think. I don't know what happened to Ware but the guy we saw last year simply wasn't the guy we saw the year prior. The first step burst and exceptional lateral agility wasn't there. I'm not sure why, but I don't think it's just gone.

I think we'll look more for RB depth than a true 3-down guy unless the value is just too strong (like Mixon with our comp 3rd or something).

My best guess is Cornerback, specifically, Kevin King from Washington. 6'3, 200 pounds.

Keenan Allen shredded Marcus Peters last year. While Steven Nelson is a fine inside corner, he was destroyed by 6'5 Mike Evans when Peters was injured.

With 6'4 Mike Williams going to the Chargers, the Chiefs need another CB, especially a CB with some size.
It's really difficult to hide cornerbacks.

We didn't have anyone that could handle WRs like Keenan Allen.

His injury saved our ass last year.

CB,ILB and RB are all important positions of need for us.
