ILB - Self explanatory
QB - It's just time OL - Gotta keep snagging a Morse or Ehinger within the 1st three rounds every draft WR - Goodbye Albert Wilson |

The only position which will have any significant overall effect is QB.
They can draft the next Ray Lewis at ILB or Deion at CB and it won't make a lick of difference if Alex Whiff is 'leading' this team to 16 painful, short-field-aided points. |

We all seem of like mind. I went...
QB ILB G Our OL was getting killed yesterday. I don't even know what to do about that at this point. Who do we upgrade? It seems like the problem is more in the interior than exterior. I was tempted to go WR or DE, but we got Hill and Jones so I think there are other priorities. Oh, and RB is a need, too, assuming that Jamaal doesn't emerge running from the forest like that Willem Defoe guy in Platoon.

I should probably just go over to Draft Planet and read about it, but what's the consensus on DeShaun Watson? I know there are doubters there. And I also know that in order to get him, we'd have to pay a king's ransom in future draft picks. Fine. If he, or another top QB is available then we need to pay whatever needs to be paid to get him. Watson just strikes me as having the moxie to be a great QB.
Think about it. Over the past 15 years, we'd drafted almost EVERY other position in the 1st round. 2016: Traded out for Chris Jones (DL) 2015: Marcus Peters (CB) 2014: Dee Ford (OLB) 2013: Eric Fisher (OT) 2012: Dontari Poe (NT) 2011: Jonathan Baldwin (WR) 2010: Eric Berry (S) 2009: Tyson Jackson (DE) 2008: Glenn Dorsey (DT) 2007: Dwayne Bowe (WR) 2006: Tamba Hali (OLB) 2005: Larry Johnson (RB) Most of these ended up being really good players. And yet we STILL can't cross into the land of the elite. And we ALL know why. Find the best QB in this draft and pay whatever you have to in order to get him. We can find the other positions later in the draft and in FA/UDFA. |

Well, QB is always the top of the list until you have one but since we know the Chiefs won't do that...
you just have to keep building defense. Build a top 3 defense and a top 10 running game and you might drag Alex to some post-season success. |

The Chiefs should not invest an ounce of energy on the offense next year except finding a QBOTF to groom. And I'm fine with him developing behind Alex Smith.
The offseason and draft has to be defense, defense, defense. We should have learned by now that offensive weapons don't make the offense better. We added a superstar at WR and an OT, and **** if I see much difference between last night's offense and last year's. Our offense has no idea how to take advantage of better offensive players. QB in the first and consider a trade up. The rest of our draft has got to be devoted to improving our back 7. ILBs and Safeties primarily. All of those positions we should be looking at starters. Sorenson and Parker are good enough. But we're at a point where we have to understand that our defense needs to carry this team. |

what superstar wr? you have to joking right? You mean the guy who for one cant stay healthy but also has personal problems off the field that he cant overcome. He didn't show for almost the whole year??? I totally agree with the ILB but I think we keep Berry and cb's played okay for the most part. We are going to need an OLB if Justin cant get back to the 2014 version. And we could not stop the run either - what 170 yards or so? |
