JFC - Oceans 11... being rebooted with a (likely) female-centric cast
http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/05/...ctor-gary-ross
------ Since gender swapping reboots is all the rage now... here are some thoughts for reboots going the other way: 1. Brotherhood of the Traveling Jockstrap (obvious) A father passes along a precious family heirloom to his now 14 year old twin boys who are going into sports. The jockstrap had been in the family for 4 generations and had brought the wearer great success in the field of athletics. We watch the twins lives unfold, they get married, and they each have a boys of their own. We get to watch the jockstrap being passed on to the 5th generation. 2. Mr. Universe - Ms. Congeniality A bumbling FBI agent, played by The Rock or Terry Crews, enters the Mr. Universe competition in order to ferret out a conspiracy against the competition. The entire plot was hatched up by radical feminists who believe that the entire competition is oppression by crotch dominance due to the speedos the contestants wear. 3. Banging in the Back Seat (Sex in the City) 4 guys go out trolling nightly for a new conquests to take back to their specially outfitted mobile home/sex studio. Eventually one of them starts falling into feelings and it turns into a bro-fest where they are all happy for him. Lots of nudity in this though... 4. Medically Male (Legally Blonde) Fred and his girl split ways after highschool. She goes off to nursing school and he goes to the local community college. In a bid to be closer to his girl, he enrolls in the same school only to find that she has moved on from him. With his hopes of recovering his lost love he decides to make the best of the situation and becomes the best damn Murse the school has ever seen. He, of course, finds a new love interest in the stunning brunette that obviously liked him from the beginning but he was completely oblivious to. 5. 27 Speeches (27 Dresses) Charlie was the all-state running back in school, prom king, class president, the single most popular guy in school... yet completely unlucky in love. As they grew up, Charlie was asked to be the best man at 27 of his team mates weddings. Despite all his early success in school and his current success in his work life... he cannot find "the one". We watch as Charlie goes on date after failed date in hopes of finally finding the one. He falls into a deep depression but decides to get clean. He meets Rebecca in AA and a romance built on love, trust, and mutual support ensues. Charlie proposes, she accepts, and he has all 27 guys he best manned for as his best men. 6. Divine Secrets of the Ta-Ta Brotherhood (obvious) The Charles family comprised of dad, mom, and 6 brothers. James, the oldest, began a diary of what he found to be effective when engaged in sexual activity. Each brother takes on the role off scribe and adds or edits the document as needed. Finally Todd, the youngest, gets the book right before he heads to college and becomes the ultimate casanova. All in all, a heart warming tale of the brotherly bond strengthening through shared experience. 7. Aluminium Bats (Steel Magnolias) A group of guys that grew up around one another playing baseball still keep in shape by hitting the batting cages once a week at the same time at the same place. A new guy, recently divorced, comes into town and strikes up a friendship with the regulars at the cages. |

I'd direct the shit out of a movie like this. When I read the title, Zeta Jones popped into my head. Think 2 hours of scenes like this...

From my understanding, it's not a reboot but a continuation.
Sandra Bullock plays Danny Ocean's sister, who is also a theif, and puts together a team to steal something of value from a man that done her wrong. Thrilling, I know... FWIW, the last Ocean's movie was awful, IMO. The cast and director just weren't into it and it wasn't even filmed in Vegas. It was done on LA soundstages. Total money grab. |

Oh my God. I remember what my dad used to tell me why in the hell can't you just leave well enough alone. That is my thought with movies. Ocean's 11 with George Clooney was great the other ones were so so why do we have to have another one?

Outside of the "inside joke" about Julia Roberts, I really liked 12. It had a different vibe and feel of 11, which was cool. It wasn't a copy of the original and I enjoyed the European settings.
13 was just awful. Pacino's unbearable. |

Huh. I don't think I've seen 13. 12 is the one where they coop Andy Garcia right?

Ocean's 12 is set in several European countries with Vincent Cassel's character as the, shall we say, rival (I don't want to spoil it). IMO, it's a phenomenal film with far more quirky characters due to the setting. Catherine Zeta Jones is part of the cast as well. Ocean's 13 was set in Vegas, with Al Pacino's character as the mark. As mentioned earlier, it wasn't filmed in Vegas and just has no feel or vibe. The cast was sleepwalking through it while unfortunately, Bernie Mac was literally dying while filming. It's just not a good movie in any way. |
