Interesting....
And Hamill is hilarious. On Harrison Ford seeing the Empire screening for the first time and realizing Vader was Luke's dad - *slow head turn* "You never told me" in perfect Harrison voice, or "I'm not even authorized to tell you that I'm even in Episode VII". Lol |

Lucas sounding a little pissy
Speaking with CBS This Morning, Lucas revealed that he did want to return for "Star Wars: Episode VII" but his vision didn't align with that of the studio: Lucas told Vanity Fair that he didn't want to be a part of the long-awaited seventh episode of the Star Wars saga, "The Force Awakens," because "it's not much fun" when you "go to make a movie and all you do is get criticized." "The issue was, ultimately, they looked at the stories and they said, 'We want to make something for the fans.' People don't actually realize it's actually a soap opera and it's all about family problems - it's not about spaceships. So they decided they didn't want to use those stories, they decided they were going to do their own thing so I decided, 'Fine.... I'll go my way, and I let them go their way.'" Over the years, Lucas has made it clear he was creating the films he wanted to make and cared little about fan feedback. He adds that the studio was also keen to basically not have him involved at any level: "All I wanted to do was tell a story. It started here. And it went there. It's all about generations. It's about the issues of fathers and sons and grandfathers. People think it's a space opera. It's a family soap opera. They weren't that keen to have me involved. I decided, if I get in there, I'm just going to cause trouble. Because they're not going to do what I want them to do. And I don't have the control to do that anymore." http://www.cbsnews.com/news/george-l...ing-star-wars/

Well, i imagine it will be tough for him to see someone else take control of his creation.
I get it.

Lucas nearly ruined the franchise with the prequels by surrounding himself with people that didn't challenge him. I'm very happy that our beloved Star Wars is now in the hands of people who know how to carry it on in a manner that will entertain the masses who love it. Thanks goodness George doesn't have the option to take his ball and go home. See-ya George, in retirement you can make all the shitty soap operas you want. |

But Abrams track record is incomplete. It's not like Epi VII has been written and directed by James Cameron or Christopher Nolan. It's Abrams. MI-3 was just "okay". LOST ultimately sucked. Super 8 was a mess. I never saw Alias or Gilmore Girls. |

The SD Comic con trailer shows that JJ & Co know the fans are looking to get back to the roots of Star Wars. Character driven stories that are gritty and more like an old style Western rather than a polished piece of shit that centers around the dispute over trade routes. Lucas lost his way with the prequels and ruined the lore of the force by introducing midichlorians, forcing in Yoda light saber battles, (further destroying the concept of the force), and cramming a shit ton of CGI where it wasn't needed. He ruined Obi Wan's Character, etc, etc... The bottom line is the highlight of the prequel series was Jar Jar stepping in the Bantha poo poo. At this point, can you justify Lucas having anymore involvement from a creative standpoint? |
