It really is silly to believe that another form of life has visited earth, but yet somehow managed to leave no solid evidence of such. Based on our current understanding and knowledge of the universe and our technological capabilities, it would take hundreds of years for another life form to travel from their planet to ours. To believe a species would invest the time, effort, and loss of life to make that trip, only to get here and not even say hello or blow us up for the hell of it, is quite comical to say the least.

yes but the comedy doesnt end there

somehow these idiots believe that the 'aliens' are trying to remain secret and have harnessed the power of suns, black holes, worm holes or other extremely advanced technology

and they spend all of these resources to go to earth

so they can abduct cows and red necks and do cartwheels in the clouds..and stay silent/secret and not tell anyone...because apparently keeping this secret is top priority and the prime directive

EXCEPT THEY ACCIDENTALLY GET CAUGHT BY A VIDEO CAMERA, by a civilization millions or billions of years more primitive than them

lolz

My stance on aliens? They're okay, I guess.

Here are a few things to consider:

1. You assume aliens have a prime directive to stay undetected.
2. You assume aliens are visible in the physical realm by our understanding of matter.
3. You assume if you saw an alien outright, you would identify it as such.
4. You assume the only reason for intelligent lifeforms to visit earth is something you currently have thought of or can comprehend.
5. You assume the ability to travel through time and space is purely a matter of technology.

At the end of the day, I think we are a grubby little species playing with our intellectual genitals on a rock at the furthest reach of our galaxy. We are the Nevada truck stop of the Universe, and we assume that the rest of the world looks, thinks, and behaves according to our dipshit, infantile understanding of the nature of existence.

Aliens could look identical to gamma rays. They could have no measurable mass or matter. They could literally be conscious thought - isn't that the ultimate evolution?

I don't believe in abduction stories or cow mutilation or any other cliche, but to dismiss out of hand the idea that we maybe aren't the absolute pinnacle of intelligence and development in the entirety of the multiverse is so asinine that it doesn't merit argument.

That's a pretty lengthy writeup from someone who just encouraged others to make assumptions based on a grainy video.

Nobody is saying we're the absolute pinnacle of intelligence in the universe. Just that the above shitty video isn't proof of anything. I'm certainly willing to believe. But grainy videos and eye witness accounts simply don't suffice.

1) yes, i assume that in the video you posted, they BROKE the prime directive that you mention...LOL

2) yes, i assume in the video YOU posted, they were detected by the visible spectrum AND recorded

3) yes I assume YOU identified the thing in the video as an alien, and then pretended we should all make that assumption as well

4) yes I assume there would be a logical reason for them coming here, and breaking #1 and coming here in 2004 to do some flips, break rule #1 makes no sense. so yes, if this advanced civilization has no logic and is willing to break the prime directive then sure...that might be them on the video you posted

5) yes i assume travel speed is based on technology. what else what it would be based on?

What if their prime directive isn't based off a 60's sci-fi show but spreading and protecting life?

Agreed.

One needs to consider that our current space technology/travel isn't much better than our ability to travel over land in the 1800's. We could do it but not over any real distance in any reasonable amount of time...

If a species could travel the vast interstellar distances in even a somewhat reasonable pace, there would be absolutely no reason for them to contact us or even visit. Anything they could need would be available in far greater and easier to harvest quantities in asteroids.

This is like saying there's no reason for people to paddle in boats across the atlantic or pacific oceans.

But they did.

Technology later progressed to the point our long and dangerous journey became mundane...

I like the idea of UFOs vs Aliens as far as their existence, I think it's far more likely that they've been seen but not touched - or if they have they've touched down, covertly. Aliens walking upon us? No, I don't buy into that. I do love the UFO topic though. I think most UFO videos are a shill, one channel worth watching is Tyler - which is YouTube handle Secureteam50 - I like him because he often will present the info w/o a strong opinion either way. Sometimes he'll include his insight - but he's pretty selective when he sways one direction or the other.
