if you are going to spend over 1k on a computer you might as well at least get the 970 video card or hell i'd just get the 980 if im going to spend that kind of cash.
Also, dvd's are pretty worthless to even have now days. My computer doesnt even have one hoooked up. Dont think i have had a dvd drive for about 3 years now. |

Most of the programs I use are now downloadable but there are still a few that require DVD's. For $18 dollars, it's worth it, IMO, to have one installed. Plus, if you ever need to burn anything for any reason... |

I don't really care about the drive. I can take it or leave it. Worst case, I can use my external USB DVD-R we have for our laptop. |

That's cool. I have an external USB DVD drive laying around here somewhere but for $18 dollars, I'd just as soon not fool with it.

I bought it so I could install Lightroom. But before or after, I can't actually recall the last time I used a DVD drive in the computer... |

I just spec'ed out that second one I posted on Parts Picker, with the only upgrade being a 500GB SSD instead of the one I listed, and cost came out over $1700.

I think a 250 gig SSD System Drive is more than sufficient. You'll want to work off of your extra internal drives (I'd recommend one for data and the other for backup - or at least a backup external). I have Windows 8.1 and scores of programs on my OS drive and it's at 86 gigs with 145 gigs free. I don't store anything on it other than programs. |
