Its 50s here this weekend as well. I had a girlfriend in Denver for a couple years. It would snow in mid October and occasionally in late May early June. People there just don't notice it because they are high all the time

Denver is not the Rockies. In fact, the Rockies take most of the brunt of any systems rolling through.

Oh, I don't know...

The climate.

The mountains.

Me.

The thrill of living behind enemy lines.

That is actually something I would like clarification on. While visiting downtown Denver a few years ago I did see a handful of panhandlers but nothing like I saw in San Francisco.

What are the areas of town that I really don't want to venture into?

There really aren't any areas of town that I would deem dangerous. If you look at shootings, they tend to happen north of roughly 35th Street to maybe 50th Street, but even then I think the people getting shot tend to be doing something they shouldn't.

If you hang out in LoDo (Lower Downtown) when the bars close at 3:00 a.m., I guess it's pretty easy to get into a fight.

Denver's pretty tame overall from a crime standpoint.

I work from home and that can be anywhere. Literally. I'm noodling around the idea of moving to Vail or something like that. Skiing, skiing, skiing. Will be in Durango in about a month to check things out. And ski.

But close to the beach is in the battle.

Denver is kind of heavenly, and not just because it's up so high.

Dry climate.

Four seasons with delightfully puffy snow.

Convenient to some of the best scenery in the lower 48.

Surprisingly good architecture.

Fit and energetic culture.

Few bugs. Fleas can't survive here, for example. In 20 years of living here, I think I've seen maybe three roaches. You can eat outside without getting eaten by mosquitoes.

While driving I was in eastern Colorado a lot.

Those ****ing temperature extremes suck.

I saw nothing about that state that made me want to spend significant amount of time there.

And then there are Broncos fans. **** that state.

Eastern Colorado isn't Colorado. Eastern Colorado is Western West Kansas.

I actually don't mind eastern Colorado. I like the endless vistas. But I think it's the mountains where Colorado gets its reputation.

I do like that one rightish turn that I-70 makes somewhere out there. I almost fly off the highway every time I drive it.

I admire the Denver economy but if that's what I was after I'd live in NYC. Shoot me a PM if you're in Durango area and like fly fishing or mountain biking or hell, drinking beer at El Rancho with a big smell boxer dog. Or watching Katipan undress through a pair of binoculars.
