Life so I just got the *racist stare* - Page 7

I'm on vacation. Sitting in a pretty empty train station. Spread out on a bank of chairs next to a plug in with my significant other. A lot of people come and go using the restrooms buying sodas but no one ever sits or stays for long. Got here at about 4pm waiting on a 630pm train. Anyway a big group comes in and people start taking chairs. We having a whole bank to ourselves (laptops and tablets charging) have our bags at either end if the bank while sitting closest to one end where the electricity is.

A big guy comes walking buy and sits in the bank of chairs opposite the side we are on. I decide I should move our bags together so that we aren't being rude and taking up more space than necessary now that we have company. After moving my bag I look up and this big guy is staring at me giving me the "eye". I ask him "what's up?" And he just shakes his head and sits down.

I'm like wtf. Does everything someone does have to be racist?

**** HIM! It was NOT your intent, so don't let him define your meaning. Just treat it as a non issue and dismiss it and let HIM deal with HIS ISSUES.

Whether it was a "racist stare" or not, I understand why you would receive that perception.
We don't know exactly what someone is thinking when they give us "looks", whether it be because of color, or maybe that person was offended because he thought you were moving your stuff because he might steal it or mess with it in some inappropriate manner.
His look and your perception of that look are both where and how these situations go wrong all of the time. Both, his perception for the reason for you to be moving the bags, and your perception of his "look", although both are totally understandable, they were both on the negative side of possibilities of the reasons for both actions.

It was cheaper to fly into that "town" and take the train for an hour and a half than to pay for the flight into the city...now I have more spending money for adventures.
