Bad Shooting in South KC
Around 1pm, three shot dead, two critical to the hospital, Woodbridge and Wornall (Wornall north of Blue Ridge). Shooter is at large, looking for a beige SUV.

Story on KC Star:

A quiet south Kansas City cul-de-sac with many older residents was the scene Tuesday afternoon of the city’s worst multiple killing in more than two and a half years.

Three people were killed and two others were hospitalized with critical injuries after the incident in the Woodbridge neighborhood east of the Blue Hills Country Club.

Kansas City police were called about 1 p.m. Tuesday to a home on Woodbridge Lane, and reported finding one person dead outside. Officers entered the home in a search for suspects or other victims and discovered two other injured people. They were taken to two different hospitals.

A short time later, officers reported finding two more people dead in another residence in the cul-de-sac. Officers methodically searched other houses. In some cases they had to force entry into unoccupied houses.

Initial reports were that officers were looking for a suspect possibly armed with a shotgun who may have been driving a vehicle stolen from the crime scene.

Police were tight-lipped about a possible motive but said the incident did not appear to start with a robbery. They said the victims were all adults.

Officers were conducting a door-to-door search.

People were still inside some nearby homes in the Woodbridge neighborhood, which is across Wornall Road from the Blue Hills Country Club.

Kathy Hurst, who came to the police command post at Wornall and Blue Ridge Boulevard, said she was concerned about her mother-in-law, who lives in a unit next to a cousin of Hurst.

Hurst said she reached the cousin, who told her that police said to stay inside.

Police were directing any family members concerned about residents to go to the South Patrol Division at 9701 Marion Park Drive.

Kansas City Police are investigating a shooting and homicide with multiple victims in the area of Woodbridge Lane and Wornall Road.

Officers were dispatched to the area at 12:50 p.m. Sept. 2 on a shooting. When they arrived, they found five victims. Three of them were confirmed dead at the scene. Two others were transported to local hospitals with life-threatening injuries.

Police are looking for the below pictured vehicle. It is missing from the homicide scene. It’s a 2002 Toyota Highlander, Missouri license plate KC5-A4X. Please call 911 if you know where it is.

The shootings happened just after 1 p.m. Tuesday on Woodbridge Lane just east of Wornall Road near East Blue Ridge Boulevard.

No one is in custody at this time. Police said they are looking for a light-colored/tan 2002 Toyota Highlander with a Missouri license plate of KC5-A4X, which went missing from the scene.
