And given that Sorensen is a ROOKIE (which seems to be a hard concept for anyone to grasp), you would expect that rookie to improve with more practice and a ton of time in the film room. If Berry or Abdullah get hurt, Sorensen will hopefully be a few more months smarter or better.

Sorensen had a couple of big fails.. The coaches put him in some tough situations that he got burned on a couple of times.. live and learn.
Too soon to be tripping on him.. calling him a bust or saying he sucks. They obviously must like what he is showing in daily practice and in the film room. If the coaches suck and suck at assessing talent? Then Chiefs are screwed anyway. May as well give em a little rope to see if they hang selves with it.

Just saying, maybe this guy will end up having a good and surprising success story. It's possible.. plenty of reasons to doubt.. but it is possible. Think maybe it's better to give the dude a chance, since the regular season has not even begun.

You're arguing something entirely different. I'm never said Sorensen is going to be great. I am saying you need more than a few games to know what the hell is, and based on guys who we've only seen in preseason snaps, the front office is relying on a shitload more "data" on the guy than we have. Maybe they see something in practice that we don't, or on their scouting process. We won't really know for sure until the kid at least has some time to adjust to the NFL.

Bronson was the 4th best safety in preseason
4. Malcolm Bronson, KC: +3.7 Breakdown: A 2013 Undrafted Free Agent, Bronson sees the bulk of his grade come from a standout performance against the Cincinnati Bengals, with his play in coverage being particularly pleasing. Signature Stat: Bronson has allowed a passer rating of just 42.4 on passes thrown into his coverage. |

Wut? So you're trying to use the fact that Bronson was a lot more ready to contribute to this team than Sorensen is as justification for keeping Sorensen over Bronson?

But yeah, when talking about rookies, let's worry about what they can contribute RIGHT NOW. We won't really know whether Sorensen will be greater than Bronson until the end of the season. Right now, Sorensen has to only be better than a bubble roster player by this time next season. I don't think it's that far out of reach to think he can do that. |

Both guys sucked ass their first time through preseason games. One gets a shot to improve, and the other just goes away. What makes Sorensen different from Vince Agnew? And no, I'm not saying Vince Agnew should have been given a longterm shot to prove himself on the team. I'm saying that you HAVE to make that determination all the damn time if a rookie sucks or not. |

Or, better yet, it was Bronson versus RB Joe McKnight, TE Richard Gordon or OL Laurent Duvernay-Tardif. Personally, I would have much rather have seen Bronson on the roster versus McKnight or Gordon. |

My problem with Sorensen is that he didn't flash anything in the games, at all. He wasn't a physical presence in the run game, didn't hit WRs very hard after they caught the ball, and wasn't good or instinctive in coverage. The only thing that stood out was the fact that he gives up the big play virtually every single time that he is targeted. Want to guess where Manning is going with the ball if Sorensen is ever on the field against the Broncos?
If a late round pick or UDFA is going to make the roster, he has to at least show a flash of some level of talent and competency in the actual games. Sorensen did the exact opposite, he just showed that the NFL was too big a game for him. |
