I hated the pick. Don't get me wrong.

But people have to get it out of their heads that Fisher has to be a pro bowl left tackle, or else he sucks. He will NEVER live up to the pick. It was a bad pick. But now that he's on the team, it would be nice if people would stop exaggerating how bad his play on the field has been. I think in year 1 as a LT, he can certainly be passable. At least play to the same level as Donald Stephenson would.

If all you're getting is passable from him, again, he's a pretty big bust of a pick.

$10M for a left tackle when you already have 2 on the roster who can do it for much cheaper? $5M for a journeyman Guard? $5M for a guard in Asamoah who wasn't any good? Yeah, I'm not that upset about losing anybody. We're going to have some hiccups in 2014 at oline but I'm certainly not upset if we chose not to just throw money at a problem that can easily be fixed through smart value moves and drafting.

Remember a year ago when some people were arguing that we should start Fisher at LT out of the gate and move Albert to RT?

The problem with that is that your offensive line becomes good by playing together as a unit. They can't be shuffling every year and expect it to be any good.

If they knew (which I'd imagine they did) that it was going to play out the way it did, they should have taken what they could get for Albert from Miami and started him at LT.

I used the wrong word then. I think he's going to "bust" no matter what. Because of draft position. Shouldn't have been drafted that high.

I am responding to those who are convinced the guy is complete hot garbage and was hot garbage last year, which is pretty much everybody. Last year at RT, he improved into a guy who at least belongs on the field. We need much better than that, but that's a different way of telling the story.

Basically, with drafting him at 1, the Chiefs FO showed that they expect him to become a cornerstone/franchise player.

We're a **** load of a long ways off from that.

He keeps playing the way he is, it won't matter. He'll be out of the league by 25.

It's still really early and he could develop.

But up to this point, he's been a massively ringing bust.

And again, I could care less if he lives up to the pick right now. Because he never will.

I want to know if he can start in this league. Not make the pro bowl. But start and play at the same level as Donald Stephenson. That's absolutely possible by year 1. I personally think he needs a full healthy offseason with his shoulder to add the bulk he needs, but for this year, the bar is pretty low as long as we get out of our head that we need to determine his value as a starter based on where he was picked versus "are you good enough to start."

They were playing pretty damn well together by seasons end so who cares where they came from. I understand Albert because of his contract demands but the other two we should kept and could have kept. Now we get watch JC get pummeled behind this youth movement of shit.

If he improves at left tackle the way he did on the right side last year, he could easily be a passable starter. If he's a passable starter, he'll be in the league. He's the 19th highest paid left tackle in the league right now.

It's not really the only point.

It goes deeper than that. If he doesn't live up to the pick, it speaks massively to the ineptitude that is the Front Office in the drafting and stocking of the roster with players.

JC played behind much worse linemen. He'll be fine. Alex Smith is the guy to worry about but as long as he can survive the 2014 season, we'll be the better for it by not just throwing money at middle of the road o-linemen this year.
