Brady takes jab at Peyton Manning in email

This is probably part of the reason he doesn't want his text messages out there.

Tom Brady jabs at Peyton Manning in private emails

By Henry McKenna @McKennAnalysis

Tom Brady is supposedly competitive about everything. Apparently, he’s even competitive about the length of his career when compared to his NFL rival Peyton Manning.

The Patriots quarterback jabbed at Manning in his private email correspondence, revealed in the NFLPA lawsuit to appeal Brady’s four-game suspension for his role in Deflategate. Brady was emailing with a childhood friend Kevin Brady, who brought up a Grantland article comparing the two quarterbacks and outlining Manning’s decline. Brady wrote that his career will last at least five years longer than Manning’s. Manning is 39, Brady is 38.

Zinger.

And Brady’s not blind to the differences in the two quarterbacks’ careers. In another correspondence with blogger Jay Flannelly, Flannelly wrote to Brady about those major differences, saying Manning “needs everything to be perfect.” Brady didn’t seem to disagree, providing a typical Patriot-esque response.

Perhaps Brady buys into the Brady-Manning rivalry as much as we do.

Dane, are you applying the same critical analysis to the things that Brady said? I'd like to hear your thoughts on that.

What, exactly, are you referring to with this statement?

I've been saying all along that the Wells Report was a falsified piece of shit and because of the release of the transcripts, that's all the more evident.

So you didn't notice any inconsistencies in any of the things Brady said?

at this point, Brady testified under oath he had no knowledge of the balls being deflated. I hope he didn't Lance Armstrong that testimony ... or his legacy is going to go down the drain. He'll only be remembered as a cheating liar.

Nope. I think he's been consistent throughout. He's claimed he had no knowledge of any deflation.

I agree. But at this point, there's absolutely no way the NFL can prove that he directed anyone to deflate footballs.

The NFL front office had no idea that balls could naturally deflate due to atmospheric conditions and knew nothing of the Ideal Gas Law.

What a bunch of buffoons.

All the more reason to credit his testimony. Would he really lie under oath directly if Jastrzemski or McNally or anyone else would dispute it if asked under oath? Unlikely. Not impossible, of course, but unlikely.

You asked, earlier in this thread, why the NFL would want to tarnish the image of Brady and/or the Patriots. My response is, why did they leak exaggerations of the amount of deflation, then refuse to correct those obvious mistakes/lies, despite the Patriots begging them to do so, and despite the fact that those mistakes/lies were making this issue front page tabloid material, and evening news lead stories, causing huge damage to teh Patriots' and Brady's brand?

I have no answer for those questions, but it seems to me that (1) one or more people at NFL HQ hates the Patriots, and (2) the NFL rushed to judgment on this, and then (possibly because the media and fan frenzy they helped whipped up became so demanding of punishing the Patriots), viewed everything in the worst possible light for the Patriots/Brady, and then (3) leveled a punishment that was stunningly disproportionate to the alleged and barely proven (if at all) crime.

It really is a pretty stunning combination of events. Very hard to understand at all.

Never in the history of football has a team won/lost bc of the weight of a football. People confuse a comfort thing with a competitive advantage. That's all I've ever had to say about the situation.

The blame lies directly at the feet of Roger Goodell.

The NFL front office created the narrative and once it was revealed that the report that Mortensen leaked was wrong, instead of admitting error, they moved forward with that narrative.

Goodell's ego is just too big. He was wrong with Ray Rice and he's wrong about the Patriots and Brady. He continually sticks his foot in his mouth.

I'll be surprised if this doesn't end with the league rescinding all penalties leveled at Brady and the Patriots.

He's been using Lexol since college, but didn't notice that it made balls slippery when wet until the last game of the 2013 season (which is the reason the AFCC balls were prepped differently than normal, according to him)? That makes sense to you?

It took him 18 years to notice that?

He admitted making a specific change to the psi level that the patriots prepped their balls to, but says there was no reason for the change, he just randomly picked a number that happened to be lower than what they previously prepped the balls to. Of course, this was after admitting publicly that he likes it when the ball is a little deflated after Gronk spikes it.

Brady sounded like a lying idiot, and I am completely unsurprised that his appeal failed.

why did Lance Armstrong lie for all those years?

why did Ryan Braun lie?

I have no idea.

Here's what I do know ... if Tom Brady is the hall of fame ICON of the Kansas City Chiefs and is my freaking idol and I'm the equipment manager and he tells me, "hey, I like the football at 11.5, do it."

and then we get caught ...

and then Brady calls/texts me and somewhere along the way I'm told, "hey, we could get into a lot of trouble for this ... you have to keep this to yourself."

You don't think I'd lie for my freaking idol?

Barry Bonds' personal trainer spent like 3 years in prison refusing to testify against Barry Bonds.

I'm a lifelong Chiefs fan. A lifelong Brady fan (in this instance, when he's our HOF QB) ... there is no ****ing way I'm ratting him out ... it doesn't matter what they do to me.
