So, long story, short, I had to take a break today. Like every parent in America, I receive freakin' ten million emails from the teacher, teacher's assistant, school, Preschool, preschool teacher, home room parent, home room assistant parent, etc. My wife says "Well, blah, blah, blah blah blah" to which I say "Wha?". "It's IN the email!". Am I the only great Dad in America that doesn't have time to read every school email instantaneously? Anyway, six months after she started in September, I finally took a look at the other parents and that's what I saw (along with a few others non-related to Star Wars but were cool). I'll try to get more info and pass it along if possible. |

The world is going to go absolutely nuts with Star Wars Fever, and there is absolutely nothing anyone can do to stop it.

No shit, right? I guess that's easy to say when you're in the middle of the ****ing process of making these movies.
Have you watched any of the reaction vids to the teaser? There are a decent number of people weeping watching it. One British lady nailed it when the Falcon burst onto the screen with Williams' music - "This music brings me so much JOY!" This movie is going to re-write box office records. Maybe even standards for success in movies, who knows. |

Did you catch his "don't text during the movie"-thing?

From the recent interviews with Abrams and Hamill, I'm getting the vibe that Han, Luke & Leia have minor roles in the film, which will not sit well with the fans. Hopefully, I'm reading too much into it. |

They couldn't possibly make give the OT cast huge roles because the movie is ultimately going to be about the next generation. The audience is going to meet the stars of the original trilogy again for the first time through the eyes of the new cast. It's going to be ****ing magical. I'm going to break down and cry DURING THE TRAILER with the OT cast, forget the movie.

Speaking of which, I always have a self-debate as to which sequel was better: TESB or Godfather II. Even as I type, I can't decide. |

I remember standing in line for hours for Phantom Menace, then being bored during most of the movie. And thinking that Jake Lloyd was like fingernails on a chalkboard (that one's had a snowball effect: I hate kid actors in everything now; I didn't prior to 1999). And thinking that it was kind of creepy how much older Padme was. And thinking that I liked Qui-Gon a lot but had a feeling the character was going to become a problem for the rest the trilogy because I thought he was the best character in the film but knew seconds into the movie his only role was to die as a trial for Obi-Wan. And thinking Darth Maul was great, maybe almost as menacing as Vader, and that the fight scenes were fantastic, and then wondering why he just died in the first movie of the trilogy. And then walking out of the theater basically stunned at how bad the movie really was.

All I remember of the Phantom Menace was being utterly stunned at how awesome it was, and seeing it again 10 times in the mall where I worked that summer. I was 17 and new Star Wars was the greatest thing ever to a virgin.

I don't think I've seen Phantom Menace again in the last 11 or 12 years. My ex-wife bought it on VHS for me for some reason, and I think I watched it once at home. So I guess I've seen it twice. I saw episode two once in a theater and episode three once in a theater, and that's it. Once was enough.
I can't count the number of times I've watched the original trilogy, but I probably haven't watched those, either, in the last five years. And I could probably still quote most of them. If episode seven is any good I'll probably see it four or five times in theaters, like I did with Avatar. Which was an experience in 3d on a big screen that it just isn't at home. |
