I think the chances of him playing football next year is about .05%. Chemo and radiation just destroys the body and even if he fully recovers, it's a major challenge for most everyone psychologically. Unfortunately, cancer goes well beyond the physical, even after 5 years. Every sensation or pin prick or cough will likely lead to him thinking his cancer has returned. In all honesty, I'm more concerned about his long term health than if he ever returns to the football field but it's possible that his NFL career is over. |

My mom was diagnosed with Non hodgkins lymphoma in March of 2013.
I know it had been there a while, same thing, discomfort under her heart, shortness of breath. She was 71 and not in shape like Berry. The doctor said it was very treatable and the success rate is very high. It was in remission. Last year, it came back in her spine and brain. This happens in 8% of patients. Not the odds you want. Now, it is just a matter of time. It could be any day. I hope Berry will be fine. If this is like what I said, he should be. Football is a game. Other things matter more vs. football.

Oh, geez. That's terrible.
As a pro football player, I'm kind of hoping that it turns out to be some type of scar tissue or something from decking a Bronco. But whatever it is, I hope he has a full and quick recovery.

A swollen lymph node in the right side of chest is the suspicion?
If a FNA or biopsy hasn't returned yet then cancerous lymphoma shouldn't be the first conclusion. It is strange he was placed on IR so fast but with a late stage lymphoma you're looking at a host of symptoms and weight loss ect. But perhaps thats why he hadn't been on the field all season. I hope for the best |

Sorry to hear about it but don't see why he can't play next Sunday against the Broncos. He knows its a huge game. I mean, him tackling a few players isn't gonna make it spread.

I'm not in the least concerned about his potential return to the NFL.
I just want him to get healthy. |
