Underappreciated monster drummers!
Who is the best (in your opinion) drummer out there that never gets the credit they deserve.

*Warning: death to anyone who says Neil Peart or Mike Portnoy. They're monsters, but they're anything but underappreciated!

The one that came to mind tonight is Thomas "Thomen" Stauch. I've long been a Blind Guardian fan, but until tonight I've really never paid that close attention to his drumming. That man is a machine, a veritable computer! He's inhuman! You gotta have something extra upstairs to be able to keep up with the strange rhythms that guy comes up with.

The reason I said Gadd isn't because he's not known among drummers. It's that he's not affiliated with any band in particular, but everyone has heard his work whether they realized it or not. I bet if you ask 10 people who he was you'd be lucky to have one person who would know.

As a drummer myself, I agree with you, but I think that for this crowd, they may qualify. I guess I was thinking only in the context of the board members, not planet Earth.

My guess is not more than 10 people here have ever heard of Terry Bozzio, so that's why I listed him.
