Off Season Lets Talk Guns
Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.
Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon? Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware? Part 2: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=293623 Last edited by Bearcat; 07-28-2015 at 06:06 PM.. |

So I have been thinking about getting a new concealed carry firearm and I have whittled my choices down to the S&W M&P Shield (.40) and a 1911 Colt Commander (or any reasonable variation of the commander series).
S&W pros, I'm familiar with the platform, I have the full size version and I love it. I already have a ton of .40 calibre ammo. S&W Cons, It's not exactly what I want but it piques my interest because of cost and familiarity. 1911 pros, I love the size and the capacity of ammo for such a large caliber, I really have always wanted a 1911 especially one for conceal carry. 1911 cons, I'm only familiar with the firearm from having shot one several times at the range, don't have any .45 caliber ammo and its kinda pricey. What say Chiefsplanet gun lovers? |

I'm a big fan of the 1911 & the triggers right out of the box. So it's no contest for me.

The only downside is that you have to carry the 1911 in the cocked position.
If you accidentally leave it uncocked and really need to use it you are ****ed. I didn't realize this until our CCL instructor pointed it out. |

I have a Kimber Pro Eclipse and I can't say enough good things about it. I've had it just over a year and have put about a 1000 rounds of every make through it without a hitch. Phenomenal accuracy and a damned fine looking gun.

Ditto for me. Plus, 1911's seem to be made for my hand.

Buy both. Man up. More guns. More better.

Exactly. A lot of new 9mm stuff even flys in the same range. I don't really have anything against .45 I just think it's too damn expensive.

I carry a sig p938 in my pocket, safety off and chamber empty, practiced drawing and racking a few hundred rounds and really not that much slower than taking the safty off a loaded one, feels little safer next to the twig and berries, no what I'm saying?

Our CCL teacher went into great depth teaching us how to use one hand to hold a bad guy away while shooting. I would rather just have a CC gun that is ready to rock as soon as it is drawn. There are plenty of other options, and this is coming from a 1911 LOVER. |
