*.* NEW- 2014 General Fitness Thread *.*
I guess we filled up the old one... http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=280149
Welcome to 2014! Now get your ass in top physical condition! No one else started it so here it is! **From the 2013 Thread** If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE: http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs If you have questions about the SS programs, look here: http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started. Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE: http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point. |

Question: I've cut my current weights by 1/4 and changed all my sets to 15/10/5. Do you approve? Also: Tri's and Bi's on same day or different? I've been told both ways by too many people. Let's get it right. Thanks.

If it's the first, that's fine as long as the last 2 reps are near maximal, and doing any more would just result in a failed lift. If it's the second, that's okay, too, but would need more explanation on what exercises get which reps. Quote:

I used to do 8-6-4 for FW, 10-8-6 for machines. I used that formula for every group. Thanks for the word on bi/tri. I can cut a lift day now if need be.

I have not lifted since getting laid off and have not been eating as much either. Tons of cardio from reffing soccer games... I have to be down close to 10lbs lighter now.

Wow.. Trying to imagine 220 on my frame, muscle or fat, and neither would be an attractive thing!

You unfinished basement, home gym guys, any recommendations for flooring you're using? I saw some industrial rubber squares at Home Depot, but they were a little spendy.

Took a small vaca, got sick on vaca, still feel like shit and can't workout. Going to Michigan in a few weeks and won't have access to a gym there. I'm gonna shrivel up like a raisin not lifting. Not to mention I was consistently pulling 405+ sumo deads while holding my bodyweight around 180lbs. Time off always seems to zap my strength for longer than it should, this should be no exception.
Damn.
