Work out? This body doesn't need to. I can effortlessly maintain my svelte, rail-thin figure.

Picked up two movies on DVD this weekend. Watched "The African Queen" (finally out on DVD) and intend to watch "Kelly's Heroes" tonight.
Yeah, I find I enjoy movies from the 30s to the 80s more than I enjoy the stuff being produced today. Go figure.

I thought the African Queen was horribly overrated. It wasn't a bad movie, but it was just.... kind of there. I guess I was expecting another Casablanca. It damn sure wasn't that.
I love Kelly's Heroes, though. It's been on AMC a lot lately, and it's one of those movies that I can watch if it's on no matter how many times I've seen it. That may be the best ensemble cast ever. |

I really enjoy the African Queen, but I'm a huge Bogart and Hepburn fan. I think I've got just about every Bogart and Errol Flynn movie out on DVD at the moment and I'm starting to work on my Eastwood and Wayne movies. (God, John was in a ton of stuff when he was younger.)

My wife tolerates it (sort of like she tolerates my fascination with Godzilla movies), but she despises the Three .

watched Felon with Val Kilmer, very good. Surprisingly good, you can get past the low budget feel to it easily. This prison film had a real feel to it unlike most prison movies.

Watched Where the Wild Things Are. Gorgeous film but sort of emotionally stunted. I was left wanting.
I followed that up with Surf Nazis Must Die, which, as you could expect, was a mistake. |
