Masterson is an intriguing bounce-back, buy-low candidate. I'm not sure he was ever healthy in 2014, and he lost the release point on his slider (which made him very hittable).
Probably has the highest upside, along with Brett Anderson, of any of the bounce-back, buy-low types. And a much better history of staying healthy than Anderson. He's also a durable guy who chews up innings, and apparently a great guy in the clubhouse. It would be a nice fit, especially with KC's defense playing behind him. Moustakas is much better at 3B than Chisenhall/Aviles Escobar is a major upgrade at SS over Cabrera and a decent one over Jose Ramirez. Infante and Kipnis are probably a wash. Hosmer is WORLDS better than Santana at 1B

The Royals should have a real advantage for reclamation pitching projects, given our park and defense.

Got to give Eiland some credit too. He seems to be able to turn chicken shit into chicken salad

Dave Eiland, The K, the defense, and our recent playoff run all give us a leg-up on pitching acquisitions. Not that we get a discount, but we at least don't have to overpay to get pitchers like we had to do before.

He wasn't really. I think it was more in reference to Santana and Guthrie.

yeah, was just about to post that. We might not match up well with the Padres though, because they want offense.
