You see this kind of shit in the NBA.
First time I've heard of a "salary dump" trade in the NFL in quite some time. |

I don't quite understand, but there's speculation that the Browns will make the trade, then release Ossweiler.

Please tell me that after watching Osweiler shit the bed last season that the Browns did not just pick up that entire remaining contract. No one is going to claim the Browns organization is functional, and I understand they got better picks back than they gave up, but they didn't...really...do that, right?

Also, if you're the Browns, why the **** WOULDN'T you do this contract?
If KC was staring at a long rebuild and you were the GM, wouldn't YOU do this deal? They get a ****ing 2nd round pick in an insanely deep draft for crying out loud. What the hell else are you going to do with that money? |

The Browns have 12 draft picks and like $100 million in cap space. If they actually go into the season with Osweiler and no other improvements, yeah this is horrible. But really this should be brilliant because they picked up a free 2nd round pick next year.
They have around 5 picks in the first 100 this year. Two 1st, two 2nd and two 4th rounders. They could conceivably draft two QBs if they wanted, and go into camp with Osweiler and two rookies battling for the job. |
