I've had decent luck with Ultimate Guitar. I have a feeling I am playing different music than you guys, though. I get the impression that most of you are metal heads.

I very rarely actually use tabs. I can figure out chord progressions and a lot of basic riffs by ear. I don't use tabs to learn Black Sabbath. I only really need tabs for really fast or overly complicated stuff and I'm finding that tabs for that stuff are wholly unreliable. |

I have mostly used ultimate guitar, only problem is that some are just wonk **** wrong. That being said, I'm not Jimmi Hendrix or anything.
BTW, thanks for the heads up about songsterr. Never heard of it before now and it looks cool. |

I'm pretty sure I do things normal guitar players never do anyway and that's not a necessarily good thing.

Songster is a good site for bass tabs too, like the play along feature.

Not exactly my point. Most of us either position our thumb on the back of the neck or over the top edge, over the low E string. When Hendrix hung his thumb over the top of the neck, he was actually touching the HIGH E string. He also had exceptionally long fingers, which allowed him to do very unconventional things. The best example I can think of is this: The normal fingering for a G chord would use the ring and pinky fingers to press the 3rd fret on the high B and E strings. Hendrix used his THUMB to fret those notes. Trying to reproduce Hendrix, note for a note, is really a waste of time for conventional guitar players. |
