I hope you are right. If he improves that aspect this defense can get to about middle of the pack which is all it needs to be. I will say one of the few nice bright spots has been Dee Ford. Hes played very well.

I am a big big fan of Hitchens. Right now he's showing himself to be game if nothing else; he's not going to shy away from anything. So hopefully he starts getting more comfortable in the scheme.

We were spoiled by DJ - a true All-Pro 3-down linebacker ain't walking through that door again for a long while, gents. When TG left, we got damn lucky to find Kelce. And our history with RBs seems similar - we just keep bouncing from pro bowler to pro bowler.

But I don't think we can expect that kind of thing at ILB. We need to adjust to a normal life here - most interior linebackers can't cover like a safety and we just have to deal with that.

I watched Hitchens cover WR's in college. I'm not at all worried about him.

Ragland should never ever play in any type of passing down so he really should have sat that whole game and Murray is just a bum.

O'Daniel not playing when a team throws 60 times is either A he isn't progressing or B the coaches refuse to play a rookie early.

At this point I don't think Armani Watts could be any worse than Murray he is just always out of position, always late.

They're always reluctant to play young guys, save for the young guys that they've drafted super high and are ready day 1. Think Peters, Morse etc.

Seems Andy's M.O is always rely on vets even if they suck.

What the **** was this draft even? I thought atleast Nnamdi would be good but he hadn't done much. Veach is going to be Ryan Grigson.

You mean a rookie 3rd round DL didn't have an immediate impact? I'm shocked.

Veach may or may not be good. But to label him that at this point is, well, pretty Billay.

You keep trying to lock horns because I won't suck every players dick nor Veachs. Its year 2 of his regime with not much to show for.

He's had 1 draft and free agency period.

Condemn all you want.

I don’t think it’s fair to say last year was Brett Veach’s first year since he didn’t run the draft, free agency or anything.

I will say Scandrick and Erving played well in Pittsburgh, but Speaks and Ragland were awful.

Oh for God's sake, give it a little time. Most rookies are not ready to come in and start right away. I would bet that we will start seeing them play more as the season progresses.

That's understandable, but I'd argue the ceiling of this draft was always going to be low. Part of that is because they didn't have a 1st round pick, but there are numerous players taken in the 2nd and 3rd round who are already showing flashes on other teams. I hope this is just a one year anomaly, because we're in trouble if every draft turns out to be a bunch of role players without any playmakers in the bunch.

Interesting notes on O’Daniel. I think he’ll he’ll start seeing more play time around mid season.

Murray is just one of those guys who's athleticism impresses you.

Dude has NO instincts at all. Either he's not studying hard enough or he just doesn't get it.
