Game of Thrones (spoiler-free zone)
A few have suggested it, might as well test the waters. The idea is to give people who haven't read the books a safe place to talk about the show.
A few quick ground rules:

Varys has been portrayed with more honorable intentions than Littlefinger (and really in a much better light overall), but it's hard to say for sure with him.

I think he uses that line, "My duty is to the realm," as a means to convince whomever he is speaking with of his dedication and as a way of appearing to desire an alliance (as long as it benefits him). He will give aid to anyone that can gain him favor and will help maintain his position, but as soon as his position is in question, he severs that tie. As we saw with Ned. He has no allegiances, no loyalties. He just uses the info he collects to stay a step ahead of the game and provides just enough intel to everyone to make himself seem needed and important.

This episode will probably be most remembered for the ending and Jaime's redemption as a character. Jumping into the bear pit to save Brienne was the first major selfless thing he's done on the show. Getting the upper hand on Locke and walking off to that rendition of the Lannister song was particularly awesome. He was one of my favorites before the episode and is even more so now.
I loved Dany's successful attempt at intimidation of the Yunkai slave lord using her dragons. She's been one of the most badass characters on the show for a while, but she really lets out that side of her in the presence of these slavers. He insinuated Yunkai had powerful friends, though, so she may not know entirely what she's getting into here. Always an enjoyable and rather comical scene when somebody sticks it to Joffrey. This time it was Tywin in impressive fashion. Great step up to the throne during the conversation to symbolically show who was really in power. He looked rather satisfied with himself as he walked off, too. And man, Theon is in a world of shit. I know he was a total asshole last season, but nobody deserves this kind of mental and physical torture. Is anybody ever going to stop that crazy ****er? If somebody ever does, it doesn't look like it will be this season. Arya also ran away from the Brotherhood right into the arms of the Hound (who apparently didn't venture too far after his fight for some reason). After trying and failing to help Sansa in his own way in S1/S2, maybe he'll try to do the same for Arya? The problem is she kind of despises him. The other scenes were of relatively minor significance, such as Bran talking about the damn raven again, Jon Snow and Ygritte continuing their love story south of the wall, Robb finding out his wife is pregnant, Tyrion's issues with Sansa/Shae (which reminds me, there hasn't been nearly enough Bronn this season, the guy's a hilarious character), and Melisandre telling Gendry what we already knew about him. |

The guy playing Bronn has done a great job (hell, the people in charge of casting for this show deserve a raise. Everyone has been nails in their respective roles). One of the pleasant suprises of the show so far.

I liked this episode. Maybe because we saw the old Kingslayer? I also like it that it looks like the royal brats day is coming. Maybe grandpa kills him and puts Robert's bastard son on the throne?

You think Tywin would kill one from his bloodline and replace him as king with someone not from his bloodline?

Yes, but Tywin would sooner kill a bastard of Robert than help him. His daughter is Cersei, so the bastard completely gives his bloodlines the finger. He becomes king, the Lannisters are out of King's Landing in the cold.

Yeah, I don't see Tywin maneuvering for anyone but one of his own to be in charge. He doesn't have much to pick from now, which I why I think he's trying to have one of his kids grow a new one.

Did anyone, when Theon was being seduced by those two gals, think 'wait! there are landing strips in the seven kingdoms?'
