With that said, of course the league ****s us. We finally get a WC, and we're sharing the program with those hosers up north playing in the Centennial Classic. 4 teams to cover each episode? Take a guess who will get the least amount of airtime? |

How good is the Blues minor league team and the blues as an organization? I know Grand Rapids (Red Wings) are usually always really good.
Also how often do high round picks play in the AHL? I remember watching Patrick Stean. |

Not what they were 4-6 years ago when Tarasenko, Schwartz and Pietrangelo were coming up but there are some parts there. Probably not a true superstar anywhere though. I'd say their highest ceiling guy is Barbashev and he's something of a TJ Oshie type but probably doesn't have that kind of ice vision. Maybe a rich man's Sobotka? Appears likely to be very defensively responsible and could chip in 20 goals and 30 assists in a good year. Otherwise you're looking at a fair number of good but not great prospects. A little more depth than a lot of systems but not as much ceiling. It's really to be expected given the draft capital they've traded away as well as their finish in the standings over the last 5+ years.

I presumed he meant Stefan but wasn't sure where he'd have seen him play. Maybe Alexander Steen but I'm not sure why Steen would've been in the minors; it's not like they do rehab assignments for the veteran players.

Side note - I once saw Jaden Schwartz play at this shitty little arena in, of all places, Kearney Nebraska.
My grandparents lived out there and for whatever reason they have an actual hockey team with a developmental agreement. It's 3 hours West of Lincoln off Highway 80; really is in the middle of nowhere. I had no idea he was assigned there and we just went out to kill some time over a thanksgiving holiday (because you can only handle grandparents for so long). Sure as shit, there is Jaden Schwartz looking way WAY too good to be at that level. I remembered watching Dale Craigwell with the Blades. Craigwell wasn't even that good but he was a man among boys in the IHL. Schwartz was like that but even more obvious. I don't understand how guys can be minor league players sometimes. My wife and I go to spring training every couple of years and before the 2010 season we were at the backfields watching Shelby Miller pitch. While we were watching, this tall guy named Carpenter was just killing the ball. I only took note because he was way better than everyone else and had the same name as our ace at the time. I'd never heard of him and I follow our farm pretty closely. Turns out the guy was a no-shit MVP candidate just a couple of years later. When even I look at a guy and think "Man, that guy is just much better than everyone else" you know those guys know it as well. And when you're NOT that guy, what the hell are you still doing toiling in the minors?

I presume he doesn't know shit about hockey (outside of Crosby, Ovi, Kane), but that's just me.

Stefan. He played with the Long Beach Ice Dogs in the IHL but looking at it that was before he was drafted #1.
