The worst ass-kickings Rousey has put on people are those hyper aggressive women that think they're going to come out strong and one-shot her. Then she pretty much just uses their own momentum to kick the shit out of them. Why would an extremely smart, calculating fighter work to her advantage? Especially for someone that really only has one go-to move? This again gets back to the idea that boxers are somehow braindead and that Mayweather simply lets the action dictate what he does. He's not a passive fighter, he's a calculating one. He's a guy that's smart enough to get Rousey out of her comfort zone and that would by no means 'play into her hands'.

Rousey is the bizarre, weird exception because she does something very weird and novel (even within MMA, what she does is weird and novel because most fighters don't have the judo training to effectively use a hip toss in a clinch) that you can't really defend against even with the inherent male speed and size advantage unless you have at least some training on how to counter what Ronda is going to do. I don't think Ronda could beat any man in the UFC, even the flyweights because they all train grappling (well if its best out of 10, maybe she wins once or twice, I don't know).

I'd love to see her wipe Mayweather out, but it would never happen. He's too quick and athletic to get drawn into a wrestling/judo match, and she's never had to go against an opponent that could generate the power Floyd does with his jabs and crosses.
It wouldn't be much of a fight, I'm afraid. |

its not an if at all, it will never, ever happen. We're just talking, and its only ever going to be talk. Who knows what bizarre shit society will do in 100 years, but while we're alive there will not be a legal sanctioned fight between a man and a woman.

Another question - if they're playing by MMA rules, does that mean Floyd gets those little knuckle cover gloves instead of the pillows he usually fights with? That could make a difference too. Again, I'd love to see her break his arm in that bar, but I just don't know how she'd get him in that position to start... |

A regular human being? No is isn't. But we're talking about Floyd Mayweather here... A guy who the best boxers in the world have trouble hitting while they're a foot away from him. Those same fighters have 10x the footwork, move much faster, and have faster hands than Ronda. I do agree that MMA fighters have to have TDD and some sort of grappling ability when they're fighting the same gender in the same weight class... But there are a whole heap of guys who have good if not great TDD simply because they are really good at controlling range.. Machida, Gustaffson, JDS, Aldo etc. They can all Sprawl, and what not, but their biggest asset is that it's very hard for guys to get in position to even attempt a takedown. You put Mayweather up against a similar sized MALE mma fighter. Then he'd likely get his ass kicked.. He can't run forever, he doesn't have that much KO power, and sooner or later he's going to get taken down. That is not the case with Ronda though. I don't think it would take her running in like a chicken with her head cutoff with her hands down too many times for Floyd to get an angle on her and put her to sleep. It didn't take Holly Long to do exactly this.

If they did fight it would never be sanctioned. Both the boxing and UFC sanctioning bodies would threaten them with lifetime bans. You could find some city to allow it to happen. The PPV is where the money is but some Latin country would let it happen in a soccer stadium. They could both retire on the money made from the fight.

Boxer needs to keep oppenent off them and punch UFC needs to get inside punches and grapple boxer best chance it knock the UFC person out as the come inside UFC best chance is to take to the ground where the boxer is unfamiliar. Floyd is not a one shot type fight who specializes in knocking someone out quickly. That gives Rousey more of a chance to grapple.

i don't know man, if Rousey gets inside and gets him locked up, Floyd is in trouble. Floyd is not a bomb thrower, he dances and backs up a lot.
If Floyd isn't able to knock her out as she charges in, he's in trouble.

For the most part, there is no such thing as a superior martial art. There are superior martial artists. And as good as Rousey is, she isn't the superior martial artist in this matchup.
