Healthy food substitutes

I'm hoping this thread can help those who are trying to better themselves. Please share some healthy food substitutions if you have any. Thank you.

1. Replace mayo and sour cream with plain Greek yogurt. Use Greek yogurt with your tuna, egg salads and chicken salads.

2. Use cauliflower instead of potatoes when wanting mashed potatoes. Steam the cauliflower and blend with a pinch of salt and pepper. Be careful with the butter. Also cauliflower makes a great pizza crust.

3. Try to use jelly instead of syrup and butter when eating pancakes.

4. Use oatmeal as binder instead of breadcrumbs when making meatloaf, hamburgers, meat balls etc etc.

5. Use unsweetened applesauce for a GREAT substitute for butter. Don't knock it until you've tried it. It has the exact same consistency and texture as butter.

I thought you added it because you felt eating in moderation was the only way to eat healthy. I wouldn't eat those in moderation but frequently.

I didn't say that *you* let it sit on the counter that long. I'm saying you can.

I've already read the ingredients and even checked out the two preservatives on Environmental Working Group. They pass.

Mine lists sweet cream buttermilk in it. What butter is made from. I eat few products like that except for the occasional salad dressing in a jar which most use soybean oil.
I doubt most posters here don't care about all natural products and are taking in many ingredients that are not natural in jarred items. I eat mostly fresh and natural but I have said I choose my poisons. This really is not that bad.

You'll eat that crap, but not heat your water in a microwave?

C'mon, man!

I use it on occasion and only half with butter. It's made from the same thing butter is made, but has soybean oil in it like most salad dressings. Only two preservatives which are low on the scale for any toxicity. Also has water for first ingredient which the highest ingredient in terms of quantity. It's not that dangerous. As to taste, I can hardly tell the difference between that an butter. Some here were trying to reduce calories. It's okay as a temporary substitute used in moderation. I always said I choose my poisons but try to limit them. Though I do not consider this in that category. I can read most of the ingredients.

Water in the microwave tastes foul. It makes for a bad cup of tea.

Even Martha Stewart won't use if for tea even if she'd use it for other things.

I stand corrected. There is a "Sweet Cream & Calcium" version. It's ingredients are:

Quote:
Water, Vegetable Oil Blend (Soybean Oil, Palm Oil, Palm Kernel Oil, Canola Oil), Sweet Cream Buttermilk*, Tricalcium Phosphate, Salt, Gelatin, (Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Calcium Disodium Edta) Used to Protect Quality, Mono and Diglycerides, Soy Lecithin, Lactic Acid, Natural and Artificial Flavor (Milk), Xanthan Gum, Vitamin E Acetate, Vitamin A Palmitate, Beta Carotene (Color), Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3). *Adds A Dietarily Insignificant Amount of Cholesterol.
Now maybe I'm doing the math wrong, but that looks like more than 6 ingredients to me. You might double check.

Look, I'm not saying everyone needs to go eat organic everything, but butter substitutes are disgusting. Cutting fat will not help you loose weight.
