If Seattle won 31-28 after Belichick foolishly didn't call a timeout on 2nd down and Marshawn scores the next play ...

you would honestly tell me the MVP of the Super Bowl (it would have been Matthews) didn't play a fantastic game?

People think he's a choker now because he was picked off on the worst play call in the history of the game. I mean, that's what it was...

Honestly.

If every playbook had a 'last play in the history of the world we would call on this down and situation' ... Seattle called that play.

I'm not kidding.

That is literally the last play call in the history of the world that should have been called there. This isn't even an exaggeration.

What part of 12/21 (57%) do you not understand?

What part of 30% 3rd down conversions don't you understand?

That's fantastic to you?

maybe he's grading on a curve? that could possibly be considered a fantastic stat line for a game managing qb, by a person who overuses the word fantastic. no... probably not... it was not a fantastic performance. lol

1. Kneel down.
2. Spike the ball.
3. Everyone run go patterns.
4. Double reverse pass.

There are actually several play calls that could have been worse. I actually think that this was an exaggeration.

I realize you're trying to be funny ...

but 3 and 4 are kinda debatable

hell, even 2 makes more sense IMO

1? Well. Maybe ... but only if you didn't want the Pats to have any time left, at all, to get a FG and you knew they had no shot of stopping you from 2 yards out with 2 plays to go

Kicking a fg should be on this list as well.

You're right, it's always great when a quarterback shits the bed and can't even complete a pass for an entire quarter in the Super Bowl. I'm sure you'll blame the receivers, but if that was Brady or Rodgers, you would be screaming your head off at how overrated they are or how they're choke artists.

#2: The 'miracle' catch was on 1st ****ing down. So stop trying to pretend like that's the only reason Seattle was in that position. It wasn't. Why is this so hard for people to understand?

If it fell incomplete, like it should have, Seattle still had 2 timeouts, 3 downs, over a minute, and were at the New England 40 yard line.
This. I don't have your Madden expertise, but I thought the two bombs in that drive were really horrible decisions by the seahawks. The crazy miracle catch - was just lucky as shit. Either one of those passes were 50/50 jump balls that could have ended the game right there. The pick in the end zone was just carma for not having those earlier passes picked first. They had time with two time outs - work the sidelines, get in position and then take your shots and giving Brady as little time on the other end as possible.

oh did they?!

that makes a ton of sense

Hm

Russell threw a 30 yard pass on 1st ****ing down and Kearse made a miracle catch

I guess in the NFL ... on 1st down ... with 2 timeouts, more than a minute to play, and in opposing territory the game is over if you don't complete that 1st down pass

that's how it works

right?

20% of his total yards on a 50% completion day came on that catch. Him even completing another pass was a coin flip at best.

The New England Patriots are world champs because Pete Carroll was too ****ing stupid to give the ball back to Marshawn Lynch at the 1 yard line.

Lynch had very nearly scored on the previous play. There was no ****ing way that NE was going to keep Lynch from getting 1 yard with the way they were playing.

Marshawn would walk if he was smart. No greater disrespect than to basically say "I don't believe you can get us 1 yard and win us the game right here for the world title, so we're just gonna throw a slant into the middle of the defense. That has a better chance of scoring for us, than handing YOU the football."

Worst call in history, and its not close.

Pete Carroll's explanation was pathetic. "We didn't want to run against their goal line group. We were planning to try to run it on 3rd and 4th down there. We were playing for 3rd and 4th down."

Its like he himself didn't expect the pass to work. What a complete ****ing idiot.

Calls like that lose coaches their jobs. Im sure Bevell will be sacrificed there, but in reality, both their asses should be gone after that stupidity. There's no coming back from this.
