Ok. I'm just going say then with out argument that this unproven O-line any quarterback is subject to be injury prone. Alex Smith is going have to git rid of the ball pretty quick to stay in the game. Johnny Foozball would be running around trying to keep from getting hit, but he can make plays on the fly. Alex Smith has to be systematic for success. |

when I watched Johnny Manziel in college (twice) I thought he was unbelievable.
No reason IMO he can't project to be Russell Wilson (at best). I am, however, the guy who said, BEFORE LAST YEAR, I'd take Russell Wilson over any QB in the NFL including Aaron Rodgers. so what do I know! ***DISCLAIMER*** I'll have to watch Johnny play an NFL game before I add him to my QB rankings list. |

yes! nice!
Here are my "to Alex Smith" QBs for 2014 that I would want leading my team. I'm taking age into account and am acting under the 'for 5 years' model, meaning...I know these guys will still be playing and in their prime in 5 years. Meaning, Peyton and Tom get ranked lower than 1A and 1B. Tier 1: 1. Russell Wilson 2. Colin Kaepernick (GROSSLY UNDERRATED) 3. Aaron Rodgers (a bit overrated, but mechanically the most impressive QB I've ever seen) Tier 2: 4. Peyton Manning (would probably be #1 on my 1 year QB list) 5. Tom Brady (I changed my mind from Drew Brees because I'm starting to think Brees is a bit overrated) 6. Drew Brees (might be more of a stats guy than great QB...throws too many picks for my liking...not a hall of famer IMO) Tier 3: 7. Andrew Luck (I understand that everyone thinks he's the next hall of fame QB but I still haven't seen anything that makes me go, "oooh, yay!" Think he's overrated, would take Russell and Colin over him 10 times out of 10. Still a franchise QB though, obviously) 7a. Cam Newton (I forgot to add him and I think he and Andrew Luck have about the same trade value) 9. Ben Roethlisberger 10. Eli Manning (still think he's the best player on a shit team, would not be surprised to see him have a bounce back year) 11. Philip Rivers Tier 4: The Alex Smith tier (interchangeable) 12. Tony Romo (VASTLY, VASTLY, VASTLY underrated) 13. Alex Smith (VASTLY, VASTLY, VASTLY underrated; although I wish he'd THROW THE DAMN BALL and take a few chances and TRUST HIS TALENT more often) 14. Jay Cutler (too dumb) 15. Matt Stafford (terrible mechanics; trusts his talent too much) 16. Matt Ryan (meh) ... again ... 29. Joe Flacco (so ****ing overrated. the Ravens would be better off cutting him, eating whatever dead money he costs, and rebuilding. but whatever. Rahim Moore made him, literally, 40M richer. I wouldn't trade that Super Bowl title as a fan...but it literally set them back 5 years. Had Rahim Moore known how to play safety, I truly think the Ravens would have franchised/traded Flacco and gone for a total rebuild, which was the right move. Instead? Ravens fans have to stomach the terribly overrated Joe Flacco for at least another 3 years. I don't feel bad for them. I'm a Chiefs fan) |

I like Russel Wilson, but there's no way he's at the top of the list. Until Kapernick shows he can be more than a one read and run guy, he's far from the top of the list, and overrated by just about everyone. Aaron Rodgers is still the best in the league. I won't comment on Manning and Brady. We've already exhuasted that argument.

Kaepernick is a winner.
Let's be honest...the Seahawks were DEAD lucky they beat San Fran in the NFC Championship and they did it in Seattle. Best homefield advantage in the NFL. I thought Kaepernick was the best player in that game. Hands down. He almost single-handedly beat the eventual Super Bowl champs...who, you know, won the Super Bowl 43-8. The people who blamed that loss on Kaepernick cracked me up. He made one bad play that entire game (the pick to Chancellor, not the one to Sherman...that was a pefect pass the defender just made a terrific play). you know... against the best defense in the NFL and the 3rd best defense, IMO, I've seen since 2000 overall. |

this is the year that Kaepernick makes that "leap", too.
I'm willing to bet at this time next year everyone will pretty much just acknowledge him as a top 3 QB in the NFL. No one agrees with me about Wilson over Rodgers...which is fair. but at this time last year I did say that Russell Wilson was going to be the face of the NFL and, thus far, it's looking like that prediction is gonna come true 1 super bowl ring turned Tom Brady from A guy to THE guy. If anyone is the next Tom Brady, it's Russell Wilson. Not Aaron Rodgers... |
