SceneItAll Tournament: Round 1, Heat 64
The rules:
In Round 1, I'm going to put up three randomly selected scenes from the nomination thread. You'll vote for your ONE favorite scene among the three. The key here is FAVORITE. We're not talking about the 'best' or 'most powerful' or 'most meaningful'. We're talking about the scene that you most enjoy watching, however you define that. The winners will move on. I'll also take the 10 highest-scoring second-place scenes and they'll advance as wild cards. Some of our nominations did not include clips. This will be noted. If you find a clip, please post it and let me know so I can update it if it moves on. (Sigh.) The embed code for Scene 3 contains the letters f, a, and g in consecutive order, so CP's autocorrect won't allow it. Enter this into your browser http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtbbqjipillowbiterY and substitute a capital F, small a, and capital G for "pillowbiter".Or just go to Post #3 where listopencil has the clip. My votes:
#1 - American Beauty. It was a nice scene. Pleasant other than the murder, and the voice was serene. #2 - Body Double - Not really into it, but it was okay. #3 - The Exorcist - It's a famous scene, and iconic, but I can't stand horror movies and especially occult ones. I recognize that it's a powerful scene, but it's far from enjoyable for me.

I went with American Beauty. It's an incredibly satisfying ending. If you want to go for scenes with impact though, that list bit of Schindler's List is damn near emotionally crippling:

I remember really liking it, but I don't remember the details at all. I watched this clip and didn't remember anything about the ending. I should watch it again.

I would tell you but I don't want to spoil it. It's a great movie in a zen kind of way.

It's a very good movie. If you watch it, prepare for that last scene to rip your heart out and throw it on the floor. |

Probably not a good first date movie. Just FYI.
