Off Season Lets Talk Guns
Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.
Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon? Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware? Part 2: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=293623 Last edited by Bearcat; 07-28-2015 at 06:06 PM.. |

The Russian cheap ammo for those Mosins will mostly go BANG and will throw a nice ball of fire - but if you want to use these rascals for sport hunting look for some Prvi Partisan (former Yugoslav, currently Serbian) hunting ammo for these bad boys. Other companies make hunting ammo for these, but this Serb stuff will get 'er done for $15/box or thereabouts, expect to pay double for US made.
These rifles will ALL have 'frosted' barrels from firing Russian ammo w/corrosive primers. Them's the breaks, that's just how they all are. I shoot Russian ammo all the time, but I carry a bottle of windex to the rifle range and swab out the bore w/windex before I come home, it'll knock out a lot of the corrosive 'salts' that their primers throw out. Come home and clean 'em, they'll serve you well. Good deer rifles, and proven pretty rough on Nazi's too. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/773...oint-box-of-20

I've got one Mosin already (Type 53 Chinese) or I would have been all over those $90 ones. Good gun for sure.
I'm looking forward to getting some extended range time with it here in the near future. |

Added - once you get 'hooked' on shooting this Russian round, youse guys can move up to shooting the Finn variation. When the Finn's threw the Russians out (before WWII) they kept a ton of Russian rifles and ammo. They bought all the captured Russian rifles and ammo they could get during WWII as well and used these to 'rebuild' into improved rifles - their M39. Same ammo, built on the original receivers, improved sights, improved stocks (fingerjointed to be more accurate in the cold) They're a sweet shooter, worth the bump up in price. http://www.gunsnammo.com/

I've bought a fair amount of ammo from them this year. I had to add to the stash before prices go up. |

Speaking of 1911's, I'm thinking of getting my first one in the next week or two. I was specifically looking at the Ruger SR1911. Should I go with the standard SR1911 or the Commander(assuming I can get either one for the same price)? |

Double .45's? That would put the smack on something. Looks to have a fair amount of recoil too.

I mean, I don't see the point either, but I'd take a dozen of them if they're handing them out. You could even put some fingernail polish on them. Or shoot a fridge twice, with one shot. |

a buddy is selling a chinese SKS, black synthetic (dragunov type) stock and fore grip, $300
and a savage arms 7mm stainless barrel, and some type of bushnell scope $700 depending on more info about the scope the 7mm seems too high, I'm thinking of the SKS (at 250), but would consider the 7mm also for about 500, again depending on the scope. Looking at them thursday. If I pass on the 7mm, and someone here is interested I'd be willing to get it and sell it right away. PM me if interested. Otherwise, some feedback/opinions about these two guns are always appreciated. |
