Patrick Mahomes and the Legend of the No-Look Pass
First, some video examples of Mahomes no-look passes:

A few thoughts and questions: - In the heat of the game, if performed correctly, this is almost an impossible play to defend. You essentially have to hope that the intended receiver as equally surprised as everyone else that the ball is being delivered, and hope for a drop/miss/tipped ball. - Instead of just capitalizing on this trait/skill-set when a play breaks down, how can Reid/Bienemy/Mahomes craft plays for this purpose? Is it possible that they design a package of plays with this in mind? - It seems to require a rollout, or a step up in the pocket, to get defenders to pull themselves out of position and commit to option A, when Mahomes throws back to Option B. Perhaps not, though? - Lastly, if you're up for the task, I'd love to hear (or see - ms paint?) your ideas for what the designed "No-Look" plays would look like. |
