Amid the uncertainty of Eric Berry's contract situation, the Kansas City Chiefs have a backup plan. The Chiefs have signed a veteran safety as their insurance policy just in case they can't reach an extension with their star. According to Ian Rapoport, Kansas City has reached an agreement with former Redskins and Seahawks safety Jeron Johnson. Follow Ian Rapoport ✔ @RapSheet The #KCChiefs, still without star safety Eric Berry in camp, are signing former #Seahawks & #Redskins veteran S Jeron Johnson, source said. 1:46 PM - 5 Aug 2016 186 186 Retweets 250 250 likes Johnson, 28, was signed as an undrafted free agent by Seattle out of Boise State. He's a member of the great Seahawks ''Legion of Boom'' defense, earning a Super Bowl XLVIII victory over the Denver Broncos. The Chiefs have struggled to reach an agreement with Berry, their Pro Bowl safety who has yet to report to training camp. Kansas City fans are surely hoping the two sides can reach an agreement, but just in case, they could certainly do worse than Johnson in the secondary. Last edited by Bweb; 08-05-2016 at 02:57 PM.. |
