Flash flooding cuts off K-State campus in Manhattan

MANHATTAN, Kan. -
Flash flooding leads to problems in parts of Manhattan, Kansas, Monday, including a warning to avoid K-State's campus.

The National Weather Service reports some parts of The Little Apple saw as much as three inches of rain fall in just a matter of three hours Monday afternoon.

All the rain led to flash flooding, filling roads and stranding drivers. On its website, Kansas State University issued a warning, saying due to the rainfall most of campus was impassable. The university asked people to avoid the area. So far there are no reports of any injuries.

The Topeka National Weather Service office says the official rainfall for Manhattan as of 7:00 p.m. Monday was 2.97 inches, breaking the daily rainfall record of 2.91 inches set in 1908.
