Joe Delaney Park

I need some help from Chiefs Planet. If you look at my location you will notice I am from Haughton, La. I originally went to school in Topeka which are where my Chiefs/Jayhawks/Royals roots are from, bit we moved to Haughton my 9th grade year. My son now plays on the Haughton High football team, as did I. This also happens to be the same school that Joe Delaney played for. In this small town, Joe Delaney is considered a hero and rightfully so. Those that know his story know why.
The reason I am writing is that every day I drive to work, or drop kids of to school, or whatever, I pass Joe Delaney "Park". This park was supposed to serve as a memorial to Joe Delaney, as well as a place for kids in this small town to play. This park, consists of a sign and that's it. The sign is falling apart also. Nothing else but a sign and a field of grass.
Now being a former Haughton football player, playing on the same field as Joe did, and being a Chiefs fan, it's easy to see why Joe Delaney is one of my all time favorite Chiefs. Driving by this "park" on a daily basis I am offended that this is how this man is remembered. A man that was a hero, a All-Star, and who was honored by President Regan posthumously, deserves better. His legacy deserves better.
I am petitioning Chiefs Planet for help. I would like to see this park completed. I don't know how to post pictures of the park so you can see the shape it is in, but I took pictures, and if someone who knows how to post pictures PMs me they're email address I will send them to you so you can post for all to see.
I would like help from anyone with contacts in the Chiefs organization, email addresses, anything to try to get help from the Chiefs organization in seeing this project completed. I would also ask for help to write letters, as I am not the best writer, to the organization to make this happen. I do not want anything out of this and would prefer someone with more writing and organizational skills spearhead this movement.
As with the Save Our Chiefs movement, I have seen what Chiefs fans can accomplish when they unite behind a cause, and I see no better cause than this.
Joe Delaney is a hero, and he deserves to be remembered that way. He gave his life for children, and I believe he would want to continue giving back to the children of this community, and finishing this park is a way to do so. Thanks in advance for your help.
