Vince Wilfork has asked Patriots for his release
Nose tackle Vince Wilfork's 10-year run in New England could be coming to an end soon.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports that Wilfork has asked the Patriots to grant his release, according to sources. Wilfork is due $7.5 million in 2014 with a salary-cap hit of $11.6 million. Patriots brass approached Wilfork about restructuring his contract, but the defensive tackle wasn't interested. The five-time Pro Bowl player "absolutely plans" on playing in the NFL next season.
