Chiefs | Could meet with Peyton Manning

There is a possibility free-agent QB Peyton Manning (Colts) could meet with the Kansas City Chiefs, after meeting with the Denver Broncos Friday, March 9.

Broncos | Not necessarily favorite to land Peyton Manning
Sat, 10 Mar 2012 05:23:32 -0800

Free-agent QB Peyton Manning's (Colts) visit with the Denver Broncos Friday, March 9, does not make them the favorite to land Manning. In fact, other teams are starting to be aggressive in expressing their interest. No contract negotiations were expected to occur during the visit. Manning did not work out for the Broncos, but wanted to familiarize himself with the team's facilities, organization and geography.

Jets | Peyton Manning was not interested
Sat, 10 Mar 2012 05:20:59 -0800

Free-agent QB Peyton Manning (Colts) did not have any interest in signing with the New York Jets, who extended the contract of QB Mark Sanchez Friday, March 9. Manning has begun to take recruiting trips and the Jets weren't on his itinerary.

I agree about Bowe.

I wonder if Manning does actually come here whether or not we could sign Wayne and tag/trade Bowe for picks. I'm just not sure Bowe can handle the increase mental demands of a Manning offense. He seemed to struggle just handling a basic offense.

We have no idea if Bowe could handle that or not. I think in the end the guy wants to be one of the best wrs in the league. If that's what it takes, do it.

If we don't land Manning we are kind of f'ed at QB. Cassel's fragile confidence is pretty much gone after all this. If he does start for us next year he's gonna be worse than ever. We are f'ed if we don't get Manning.

I already said I'm not hung up on the Chiefs getting Peyton. Except that Pioli has put the Chiefs in a situation where it's Peyton Manning or bust, as our other QB options this year are beyond shitty if we don't land Peyton. And we all know a franchise QB is critical to our success.

I don't care about having a control freak in our front office or at QB. I care quite a bit when their control freak tendencies lead you to emotionally react in damaging ways, as it did with Pioli. Peyton's controlling tendencies always have a rational reason behind it. Pioli has gotten caught up in too many emotionally rash decisions. When you become so invested emotionally in your QB that you become stubbornly attached to him. When you become so convinced that you don't have a publicity problem that you believe the solution is to not address it at all. When you would rather take proactive steps to cripple your head coach, rather than trying to either help him succeed or firing him outright... Those are emotional decisions, not rational ones.

He was young and thought he didn't need to would be my guess. The important thing is he did rededicate himself to get better.

I'm not saying he can or cannot. Will or will not. I'm merely pointing out that Peyton is going to demand it and it's going to force Bowe to prepare in a way he's never had to before. You never know if the Chiefs or even Bowe don't think he can or will do that.

Pioli has too big of ego to ever admit his mistakes
Pioli is too tied to Cassel to ever go after another QB
Pioli would never make a big move like going after Manning
Manning would never consider coming here
If Manning doesn't come here we are f'ed

so now by doing what everyone wanted him to and going after another QB he has put us in a bad position of manning or bust.

let's face it, you are going to bitch and moan, expect the worst and blame Pioli no matter what happens.

pointless to discuss any further.

He has. For the most part.

There is only so much a WR can do with the likes of Matt Cassel and Damon Huard.

JFC, this place is bad when Manning is in Denver.

It's going to be insane when he is in KC. People will simultaniously jizz and hang themselves.

Rinse and repeat.
