D-
He was given a $16 million dollar contract last offseason and played like a JAG earning Vet Minimum. |

Didn't he intercept a halfback pass? That's pretty cool, and literally my one solid recollection of Sorensen this year. I think he might have had a sack on a prime time game, too.

I think Dan played well this season. He led the team in tackles by a country mile, and had to replace Eric Berry on a moment's notice. I think he's still ascending as a player, too. I'm not sure what his role will be when Eric Berry comes back (it's an even-numbered year, so we'll have Berry this season), but I think there's a role for him in the defense.
It seems like he could be a good center fielder at safety. He's got great speed to close in on balls. I wonder if he could challenge Parker for the deep safety spot.

He’s a 4th safety getting paid like a lower end starter. Can’t wait until we’re rid of him and his bullshit contract.

I should point out too that Dan's got some fight in him. On a good defense, you need guys who aren't afraid to land an occasional elbow or forearm. Dan was our only guy who did that.

I think the role we had planned for him before Berry got hurt would have yielded him a more productive season. He can't tackle, or at least was horrible at it the second half of the season.
In the role he should have had I think he would have been ok. The major issue that would will remain even when Berry comes back is the contract. He certainly didn't earn that this year and with a team that has cap and defensive issues, it's not good timing. |

Good: To become a starter when you are an undrafted free agent is something to be proud of. At times he was one of the few defenders to play with a nasty attitude. His pass defense isn't that bad
Bad: Constantly playing him in the box expecting him to defend the run like a MLB was idiotic. He's not built to do it. Tough to replace Berry. Best fit: Reliable backup in a better scheme.

Listen, guys: he sucks. He’s the worst tackler on a team littered with shit tacklers, he gets bullied in the box, commits more personal fouls than the rest of our defense combined and is constantly out of position in man coverage. He doesn’t do anything particularly well, except, hilariously, stay healthy, and he gets paid too damned much.
He’d be best as the fourth safety on the team making no more than $1.5 per year. |

I like his nastiness. I do not like how much he costs for his play.
