Playing with Fanspeak Offseason Simulators

So, decided to play around a bit. Tried out the Offseason Simulator and then the Draft Simulator for the first time this year. Here's what I got.
Ended up with about $3.8 million in cap space.

Signed (Cap Hit)

Eric Berry, S (5,760,000)
Tyvon Branch, S (2,160,000) --- Would not have signed had I known I could get Quddus so cheap and would have used this and Allen's money to get Brooks.
Jeff Allen, G (2,250,000)
Jaye Howard, DT (3,000,000)
Frank Zombo, OLB (1,000,000)
Sean Smith, CB (5,250,000)
Husain Abdullah, S (1,200,000)
Derrick Johnson, ILB (3,750,000)
Sean Weatherspoon, OLB (2,800,000)
Isa Abdul Quddus, S (1,400,000)

Cut

Dustin Colquitt, P --- Would not have cut in retrospect, but I went hard after Brandon Brooks, OG (Houston) and didn't get a deal done.
Knile Davis, RB
Marcus Cooper, CB
De'Anthony Thomas, RB
Paul Fanaika, G

Draft

Round 1: QB Paxton Lynch, Memphis - Damn straight mofos, QB of the future that won't be there in reality.
Round 2: WR Braxton Miller, Ohio State
Round 3: OG Sebastian Tretola, Arkansas
Round 4: RB C.J. Prosise, Notre Dame
Round 5: OT Joe Haeg, North Dakota State
Round 5: CB D.J. White, Georgia Tech
Round 6: CB Eric Murray, Minnesota
Round 7: LB Victor Ochi, Stony Brook

Top 5 UDFAs

P Drew Kaser, Texas A&M
LB Luke Rhodes, William & Mary
DE Ufomba Kamalu, Miami
OC Mike Matthews, Texas A&M
WR Corey Davis, Western Michigan

So, given this unlikely scenario, here's what the "round-about" roster would look like:

QB: A. Smith, P. Lynch, A. Murray, T. Bray
RB: J. Charles, C. Prosise, S. Ware, C. West
FB: A. Sherman
TE: T. Kelce, D. Harris, J. O'Shaughnessy
WR: J. Maclin, B. Miller, C. Conley, A. Wilson, C. Davis
OT: E. Fisher, J. Reid, J. Haeg
OG: B. Grubbs, J. Allen, L. Duvernay-Tardiff, S. Tretolu, Z. Fulton
OC: M. Morse, M. Matthews
DE: A. Bailey, J. Howard, R. Nunez-Roches, U. Kamalu
DT: D. Poe
OLB: J. Houston, D. Ford, F. Zombo, V. Ochi
ILB: D. Johnson, S. Weatherspoon, J. Mauga, R. Wilson, D. Alexander, L. Rhodes
CB: M. Peters, S. Smith, P. Gaines, S. Nelson, D. White, E. Murray
S: E. Berry, R. Parker. H. Abdullah, T. Branch. I. Abdul Quddus
ST: C. Santos, J. Winchester, D. Kaser

Other than missing the boat on OLB depth, I'd be pretty ****ing thrilled. Of course, its FanSpeak, so its la-la-land.

Great read...Love these threads!

You've added some nice depth, but there's not a lot of excitement to your offseason. Basically, we've added a potential WR2.

I'm going to start playing around with this and will try and post soon.

Why a RB in the 4th? Just out of curiosity? ...seems like RB play was solid even without Charles this season.

Hard to be upset at this, but the fact there's only one DT at the end of the day would be my complaint.

I think Kaser is drafted btw. And I doubt most of your picks drop that far, but hey lemons-> lemonade.

Agree with everyone, in reality. I mean, most of these guys just won't be there at the draft projections using their site, but it was fun to see things unfold. Just a game to me more than anything. As for Prosise in the 4th, really just overwhelming value I couldn't pass up. Looks like a legit #1 back to replace Charles long-term. I see him going off the board by the early 3rd and wouldn't mock him to the Chiefs at that point, but if he were there late 4th there is no way I'd pass.

I went in under the assumption that we weren't bringing Sean Smith or Jaye Howard back. I'm also going to try and make the amounts that I re-sign guys for realistic. I know with this simulator that you can start off lowballing until you find the minimum amount they'll take.

CUT: Ben Grubbs, Paul Fanaika, Marcus Cooper, De'Anthony Thomas, Knile Davis

RE-SIGNED:

Jeff Allen, OG: 4 million per season, 3 years, 15% guaranteed
Frank Zombo, OLB: 1 million per season, 2 years, 10% guaranteed
Derrick Johnson, ILB: 5.5 million per season, 3 years, 20% guaranteed
Eric Berry, S: 9 million per season, 5 years, 25% guaranteed

FA's SIGNED:

Mitchell Schwartz, RT: 5.5 million per season, 4 years, 20% guaranteed
Al Woods, DE/DT: 2 million a season, 2 years, 15% guaranteed
Danny Trevathan, ILB: 5.5 million per season, 4 years, 25% guaranteed
Jeremy Lane, CB: 5.5 million per season, 4 years, 20% guaranteed

With $5 million reserved for draft picks, that leaves roughly $4 million in cap space left over.

Lowest I could get Berry for was what you signed him for IIRC. Also, Sean Smith was a guy that I could get for 7.5 per for 4 years with 30% guaranteed IIRC. Howard you can get incredibly cheap though, like 3 million per with 20% guaranteed. I got Weatherspoon where I expected, which was something like 4 million per, 4 years, 25% guaranteed so Trevathan is a pretty damn good value comparatively speaking.

Surpised you got Schwartz that low, I couldn't get him that low but I was going for 5 years. Ended up at 6.5 or 7 million per. Same with Brooks, he requires like 6.5 million per for 5 years.

I tried like hell to get Steelers tackle Mike Adams really cheap but was approaching the 2 million per mark in my attempts and there is no way in hell I'd take that chance. I wanted to sign him to a 1 year vet min deal. Yeah, no dice. I thought maybe a new team could turn him around and bring that talent out and would be worth a shot as a RT experiment. No way I'd pay over 2 million per for that bag o'shit though. Turns out though, after doing some research about the guy, he won't even be a free agent anyhow. The CBA's contract year PUP rules will keep him with the Steelers in 2016 at his 2015 salary. So, that's that.

By the way, would not be disappointed with your offseason.

Let go of most of the average pending FAs and added Fanaika, Cooper, and Knile Davis to the cut list. Re-Signed DE/NT Jaye Howard on a 5 year deal averaging $4 million per year(2.4 cap hit), re-signed ILBer DJ on a 3 year deal at an average of $5 million per year(3.562 cap hit), SS/FS Eric Berry a 6 year deal at $7 million per year(4.2 cap), SS Tyvon Branch 2 years at $2 million per year (1.6 mil cap). Added ILBer Rolando McClain 5 year deal averaging $5 million per year(3 million cap) and CB Trumaine Johnson at $7.5 million per year (4.125 cap). Had $5 million plus to roll over and pick up some scrubs and still had the $5 million allotment pool to draft rookies.
