Rivers isn't washed up. His team is shit and pretty much everyone is injured.

It seems that the protection has been quite good these last few weeks, and that lets Alex loosen up and play better. That's going to be true of most any quarterback. Alex is good. Solid. Not spectacular, but better than serviceable. However, in this division, that seems to be a pretty low bar.
I like to win, so for now, Alex isn't losing. He looks a lot better than in the past, and that's a good thing. But remember...he's been in the league a long time. He's not going to get better than this. When the shit hits the fan, I just don't have confidence in his ability to "put the team on his shoulders".

I'd like to see Derek Carr's stats behind this offensive line. Would be more in line with his brother's stats at Houston.
The assertion that Smith is the best QB in the division is far less over the top than the negative talk about him being near the worst QB in the league. |

Keep in mind that he hasn't had a chance to be scouted/solved by NFL defensive coordinators yet since he plays for the Raiders and they were completely ignored by the rest of the league until this season
Remember how good RG3 was during his rookie season and how quickly that fell apart? Carr has a lot of RG3 rocketship in him. |

Please, no.
Alex has played well lately. Let's not overplay it though, he's done the job. Nothing more or less. |
