[QUOTE=Direckshun;11007352]I'm guessing we're not seeing Owens for a while, after his unfortunate injury.
Owens has been a big win for Dorsey and this team. He's played good, fundamentally sound football in the slot. Losing Owens for a few weeks normally wouldn't be that big of a deal, but it is with us because the next guy on the depth is Phillip ****ing Gaines, a guy who allowed 5 TDs this preseason. Five. In four games. To 2nd and 3rd string QBs. So, assuming Eric Berry returns, what do you do? Poll forthcoming.[/QUOTE Put Berry in the slot and have Abdullah and Parker as your safeties |

While I agree, Gaines will turn into a good football player. He is raw, but posses a very high skill set. Playing time for him is a very good thing, which will help him progress. It's a catch 22; It could possibly hurt us now, but will benefit us in the long run as he learns and turns into a good football player.

With Berry back healthy, the only place to turn to is Parker while Coleman remains the 3rd safety.
We're in trouble if we have to depend on Gaines for more than a few defensive snaps a game. |

i really like Parker at safety because of his range to jump at what is in front of him, he's horrible when he has to come up closer to the LOS and play like a CB.

Edit: So you'd risk Gaines at NCB, I take it. |

None of the above.
Abdullah to the slot. Parker at free safety. Berry at strong safety. Go back and watch Abdullah v. Hilton in that Colts playoff game, once KC was finally smart enough to make that match-up, and you'll see why I say this. |

The PFF numbers on Owens when we picked him up were dreadful.
He showed up, and played not only very solidly against the run, but was a significant reason we haven't given up a good day to a slot receiver since Week 2. |

True, at this point. Consider that the Chiefs won't be facing 3 receiver sets all of the time. Abdullah is only brought down into the slot in those match-ups. Parker is your 3rd, swing safety that comes in to play high when Abdullah is in the slot.
