Second Place MVP

Just was thinking about how Pat won the MVP in our two Super Bowl wins but that there were probably some close seconds in both games. Who would you call as runner up MVP for both games?

SB 54:

Damian Williams 104 Rushing yards on 17 carries (6.1 ypc) 2 TDs including the game sealing 38 yd TD run

Sammy Watkins 98 receiving yards on 5 receptions (19.6 ypr) and critical 38 yard reception against Sherman which led to the go ahead TD.

Travis Kelce - 43 receiving yards on 6 receptions (7.1 ypr) with a TD Catch to bring the Chiefs to within 3 points in the 4th Q (20-17)

Bashaud Breeland - 7 tackles (6 solo) 2 TFL, 1 passes Defensed and a 1st Q INT which led to the Chiefs going up 7 points (10-3)

Kendall Fuller - 4 tackles (3 solo), 2 passes defensed and game ending INT

SB 57:

Nick Bolton - 9 tackles (8 solo) and a scoop and score TD in the 1st Q to tie game (14-14)

Travis Kelce - 81 yards on 6 receptions (13.5 ypr) and a TD to tie the score in 1st Q at 7-7

Isaiah Pacheco - 76 rushing yards on 15 carries (5.1 ypc) and a rushing TD to start the 3rd Q to bring the chiefs within 3 (24-21)

Kadarius Toney - 2 punt returns for 77 yards one which was the longest PR in Super Bowl history at 65 yards which set up the TD to Skyy Moore to go up by 8 points. Also caught the TD to put the Chiefs up 28-27.

If Bolton would've gotten that second scoop and score it would've been really hard not to give him the MVP. So, he is my choice.

If we're playing the what if game: if toney gets the punt return to the end zone or the play goes to him again instead of Moore, Toney gets the mvp.

Williams and the age of Kadarius. If the second Bolton TD would have stuck, he’s MVP!

Williams in SB 54. There were some that thought he should have won it then.

Bolton in SB 57. He was a force in that game and the best defensive player on either team and came a split second from two fumble return TDs.

Kelce. I'd say Bolton, but we were getting thrashed defensively for a good part of the game.

They didn't really run on us at all. Did the Eagles' Greatest of All Time running backs even play?

We dared Hurts to beat us with his arm, and hot damn he almost pulled it off.

Unfortunately for him the QB on the other sideline was Patrick Mahomes.

I went with Pachecho. Not because I necessarily thought he deserved it in a conventional way. But there’s no way our offense is what it is in the second half if we’re trotting out a guy like CEH - or maybe even Damian Williams - who doesn’t have Pachecho’s physicality, burst, and explosiveness. He legitimately forced them to genuinely respect our running game like no one has since Hunt and Charles before that, and we don’t win the SB with anyone else back there. He allowed Mahomes to be Mahomes because they couldn’t just tee off on him.

And props again to Reid for a balanced offense at a time when a lot of OCs would just be like, “Give the ball to Mahomes and let him make magic.” Reid doing that was a major tendency-breaker.

Agreed and I did mention earlier in the year that it seemed as if Reid always knew Pacheco was his secret weapon.

They were deliberately holding back on him for the big games at the end.
