I think it's more scheme and offensive execution than the corner.

Mosely did what he's supposed to do for the most part. We just have the one QB/WR combo in the league that can bust it.

Yeah Chris Simms breaks it down perfectly. The video in the OP makes it seem like a mistake by the CB, when in reality it was Reid "attacking the rules of their coverage" as Simms stated.

Which is a shame because calling it a coverage breakdown takes away from how awesome the play really was. It also throws the CB under the bus undeservedly...but that's much less important.

Chris Simms dissected this play on 2 of his shows that were posted in the lounge. Andy schemed it perfect due to our personnel. Chris said something to this effect. We have a superhuman who can throw at crazy arm angles while being hit and still throw it 57 yards downfield off back foot to the only receiver in the league that can run that route because he has 3 rockets in his ass. Nobody in the league can match that combo or match up to it.

two other factors are at work here too.

1. Hill is so fast he can run half way across the field and it all the way back to the other sideline. Who does that?

2. Mahomes' arm is so strong he can retreat 14 yards and launch a rocket for 57.1 yards to make that play.

Its just not fair. Go ahead and try to defend it, its unreal. The Patriots talking about that route is all you need to hear. They were ****ing amazed by it all.

Simms also made a point to say that the CB on that side actually did his job the way he is coached. He placed no blame on that CB. It was just a great scheme to beat that coverage. And only the Chiefs, with Mahomes and Hill, could pull off that kind of play .

Great video! NFL Films sets the standard in terms of production.

The corner opposite Sherman (Moseley/Witherspoon) was their weakest link on defense and we found it and exploited it at the absolute best time.

I'm still on cloud 9. Feel like the game ended 30 minutes ago. Watching every speck of coverage I can find. Watched the AFC Championship game again yesterday and have watched the SB 3 times so far. Very unusual for me, usually never watch anything other than NFL Fantasy Live on NFL Network. Soaking it all in, to say the least.

It was a great play call because Reid put the corner in a position to make a decision either cover Watkins or Hill and why Andy still wants Watkins on this team for that reason alone.

Further analysis on the play:

I don't blame the safety or the corner on the 49ers on that play. You want to know why Mahomes and this Chiefs team is so special? Watch that play. Rare combination of talent on multiple positions on the Chiefs offense.
